Last week I delivered Menopause in the Workplace – Creating Workplaces Where Women Thrive to a group of HR professionals for Anne Corder Recruitment.

We explored what menopause can look and feel like for women at work, the role managers play, workplace adjustments and what organisations can do through policy, training and culture.

But we also talked about the woman herself.

While organisations and managers have a responsibility to create supportive workplaces, I believe women also need the knowledge and tools to understand what’s happening in their own bodies and feel able to advocate for what they need.

For me, that’s where my two worlds come together: 23+ years working in HR alongside my later work in Kinesiology, natural health and wellbeing.

And there is still SO much to talk about.

So on 27 October I’m running another webinar, this time specifically for perimenopausal women.

✨ Navigating Perimenopause

A practical session to help you better understand what’s happening to your body through perimenopause and explore ways you can support yourself through the transition.

It’s open to everyone experiencing (or wanting to prepare for) menopause because, let’s face it, it’s going to happen whether we like it or not!

💻 Online
📅 Tuesday 27 October | 11am–12.15pm
🎟️ £44

Replay available, plus a private, unrecorded 20-minute Q&A for those joining live.

Booking link in bio.

And if you’d like to bring either of my menopause sessions into your organisation, get in touch and we can talk about what would work best for your team.

What if the reason you’ve felt exhausted, frustrated or like you’re the one doing something “wrong”, was nothing to do with YOU at all?

What if you’ve simply spent a long time trying to fit into ways of working that are draining for the way your energy works?

What if after working with me you finally trust YOUR unique way and you stop trying to be like everyone else?

This has been one of the biggest realisations for a recent Lead From Within client.

She’d spent years working in environments that didn’t suit her natural way of being, setting herself expectations around consistency and productivity that she could rarely sustain, then judging herself when she inevitably needed to stop and rest.

At times she’d even hidden how exhausted she was from the people around her because she worried they might think she was lazy.

When you’ve spent years doing that, it’s very easy to make yourself the problem...

Maybe I need to be more disciplined.
More consistent.
More resilient.
Why does everyone else seem to cope better than me?

But, as we explored over the 12 weeks together, none of that was true.

A fundamental part of our work was understanding her Human Design and recognising how often she’d been trying to live and work against her own natural energy type, rather than with it.

That changed everything.

At the end of Lead From Within she said:
“I know what to do now to work with, not against, my nature and true self.”

I think there’s something really powerful in that.

I’m not interested in helping women become better at overriding themselves so they can keep functioning in their lives, businesses or ways of working that no longer fit.

I’m interested in what happens when we get curious about why something isn’t working.

When we understand ourselves more deeply.
When we stop looking outside ourselves for the rules about how we’re ‘supposed’ to behave, work and do life.
When we begin trusting our own rhythm instead.

Sometimes the shift isn’t about becoming a different or better version of yourself; it’s about finally giving yourself permission to be the version that was there all along.

That’s Leading From Within ✨

PERI & POST MENOPAUSE - Some helpful Do's and Don'ts

There are many ways of alleviating the symptoms of peri or post menopause using herbs, vitamins and minerals, and making small dietary changes.

The key is to understand what is going on in your body and what route will help you most. Your local Kinesiologist can help you get clarity on this...why guess when you can muscle test?!

Another thing to consider is whether you are ingesting XENOESTROGENS; synthetic industrial chemicals found in a variety of plastics (as well as in sealants, consumer products, preservatives, and insecticides).

Xenoestrogens can have a phenomenally negative effect on some people's hormone health (and they can affect men as well as women).

THE DO'S - Here are some ways of avoiding ingesting xeno-oestrogens:

Use glass, stainless steel or BPA-free bottles for water and drinks
Use glass or ceramic containers in a microwave (ensure they are microwave safe)
Use a plastic or silicon splash guard over food in the microwave, ensuring these are not touching the food
Or use a plate to cover food while heating - please be careful of your fingers and face when you remove the plate!

THE DON'TS - Here are some tips on to protect yourself from xenoestrogens:
Don't leave plastic bottles in the car and then drink the water in them
Don't re-fill plastic water bottles more than about 3 or 4 times
Don't microwave food or drink in plastic containers
Don't have hot drinks or food in Styrofoam
If using clingfilm, don't let it touch hot food or food heated in a microwave

These small changes can make a MASSIVE difference to your hormone health.

What does good manager support actually look like when someone is experiencing menopause symptoms at work?

It doesn’t mean becoming a menopause expert and it certainly doesn’t mean trying to diagnose someone or assuming that every woman of a certain age is menopausal.

Often, it starts with something much simpler but fundamental to creating psychological safety:

➡️Creating the kind of relationship where someone feels safe enough to say, “I’m struggling, I need some support”, as well as;

Listening without judgement.

Asking rather than assuming what might help.

Being open to reasonable adjustments and recognising that what one woman needs may be completely different from another.

And perhaps most importantly, avoiding assumptions!

Never immediately misinterpret any changes in confidence, concentration, energy or performance as a capability issue without first having a conversation about what might be going on.

Managers don’t need to have all the answers but they do need the confidence and skills to have human conversations, know where their responsibilities begin and end, and understand what support is available within their organisation.

This is one of the areas I’ll be exploring in my upcoming webinar for Anne Corder Recruitment:

💫Menopause in the Workplace – Creating Workplaces Where Women Thrive

We’ll look at the role of the woman, the manager AND the organisation, because good menopause support is about taking combined responsibility.

You already have the answers.

Most of the time, you have a really good idea of what needs to change.

You know the conversation you need to have, the boundary you need to set, the decision you keep circling around. You probably even know what you need more of and what you’re ready to let go of.

The problem isn’t usually the knowing.

It’s being able to hear yourself clearly enough, and trust yourself deeply enough, to go for it and act on what you know.

Then there’s the layers underneath all that thinking that come in the form of old patterns, expectations, fears, self-doubt and years of listening to everyone else’s opinions before your own.

That’s where my work comes in.

Lead From Within is my 12-week private mentoring programme, where we go beneath the surface of whatever is keeping you stuck and create the space for you to reconnect with yourself, build self-trust and move forward in a way that actually feels like you.

I draw on more than 20 years of HR experience working with people and leadership teams, alongside coaching, kinesiology, nervous system and body-based work.

There’s no one-size-fits-all process because what’s underneath the stuckness is different for everyone.

I’m not to tell you what your answers are.

I’m here to help you find your own way back to them.

If that feels like the kind of support you’re looking for, message me about Lead From Within - I have 2 spaces available to start this month ✨

And if you’re not quite ready for that, my free Returning to Yourself guide is a lovely place to begin. Comment CONNECTED and I’ll DM it over 💫

You can have a menopause policy and still have a culture where nobody feels safe talking about menopause.

A policy can only tell employees what support is available. It’s the culture that determines whether they feel comfortable enough to ask for it.

Can a woman talk about brain fog, exhaustion or anxiety without worrying she’ll be seen as less capable?

Do managers know how to respond?

Are reasonable adjustments genuinely available, or do people feel awkward asking for them?

And is menopause support something the organisation genuinely engages with, or is it a mere tick box exercise?

For me, creating a menopause-supportive workplace is about recognising that this transition can happen at a time when women have decades of experience, knowledge and leadership experience to offer.

The question isn’t, “Do we have a menopause policy?”
It’s, “What’s it actually like to experience menopause here?”

That’s one of the conversations I’ll be having during my free webinar for Anne Corder Recruitment:

We ask different questions so we get root cause answers ✨💫

You’re tired, your digestion is playing up, you’re not sleeping properly, or you simply don’t feel like yourself… but you don’t know where to start.

Perhaps you’ve changed your diet, tried different supplements, exercised more, rested more and you’re still left wondering, what does my body actually need?

Kinesiology offers a way to explore that question.

Using muscle testing, a kinesiologist looks at the body as a whole, helping to identify areas of imbalance and the support that may be appropriate for you as an individual.

Sometimes the biggest transformation isn’t just feeling better. It’s understanding your body better, feeling more connected to what you need and having a clearer way forward.

Your body has a story to tell. Kinesiology can help you listen.
