Truth 🙌

Giving a drug disempowers the recipient. It says, "You are helpless in the face of your problems. You need less feeling and energy, and less brain function". The true aim of therapy should be to strengthen and empower the individual.

To heal a split in the self, a person needs to work with their shadow and learn uncomfortable truths about themselves in the process. Our inner war is softened when we allow ourselves to be seen. Not just the side of ourselves that matches our intersubjective ideal - that is easy. We show those feathers prominently. No, we need to accept our failures and shortcomings too.

EVERYTHING is not a gift. There may be valuable transformation that arises from many experiences, but that doesn't mean that EVERY experience is a gift. If we lean too far in that direction, we will deny trauma and victimhood altogether . . . . Some experiences are horrors, and it is all we can do to heal from them. To suggest that someone MUST find the gift in them is to add insult to injury. It is also to create a culture that welcomes all horrors, because, after all, 'everything is a gift'. Let's keep it real - sometimes it's a gift. Sometimes it's a horror. And the only one who can decide that is the person who had the experience.

For sure… 🙏

We live in a volatile time on the planet. Our bodies are sensitive and many of the thoughts and feelings we experience - anxiety and negative thought loops - are the result of a nervous system on high alert. It is more essential than ever to cultivate awareness and resilience, so that you don't jump into each and every drama your thoughts dangle before you; that you practice to stay rooted in presence and earth and make it a priority to take care of yourself.
