Children of the 90s

Children of the 90s Want to take part? If you aren't sure, get in touch! Children of the 90s are a group of nearly 20,000 young people, born in 1991 and 1992 in and around Bristol.

If you were born around Bristol between April 1991 and December 1992 - you might be in the Children of the 90s research project and eligible to get involved! Scientists have studied these young people to aim to help discover the causes of the most important health and social problems facing the world today so that we can help prevent those problems. Taking part is voluntary and 100% confidential.

It includes attending our research centre, filling out questionnaires and in the future giving us permission to use the routine information that's collected on all of us by health, social and other services and official organisations. If you were born in 1991 or 1992 in Bristol or Weston send us a message and we'll let you know how you can take part. Discoveries made by scientists working on Children of the 90s are making a difference to lives around the world.

Professor Gemma Sharp from University of Exeter spoke to Naga Munchetty on BBC Radio 5 live this week about her new study looking at heavy periods and menstrual health: CycleTrack🩸

Children of the 90s participants have been asked help collect the world's largest biobank of menstrual fluid for their age group 🌎

Researchers hope to identify biological signals linked to heavy periods and related conditions - the findings could support earlier diagnosis, better care plans, and new tools to identify risks such as iron deficiency.

Our COCOs clinic sessions currently run Wed - Sat 9am - 4.30pm at Southmead Hospital.

Contact us to arrange an appointment and, as a thank you, receive a free gift (0 - 4 years) or a £10 shopping voucher (5 - 11years) for your child!

We offer free snacks and transport - and can provide a letter for your child's school / your employer.

Professor Gemma Sharp from University of Exeter spoke on BBC Radio 4 Woman's Hour yesterday about her new study looking at heavy periods and menstrual health: CycleTrack 🩸

Children of the 90s participants have been asked to complete a detailed questionnaire, wear an activity tracker and help collect the world's largest biobank of menstrual fluid for their age group 🌎

By combining these samples with long-term health and genetic data, the study aims to improve the lives of the millions affected by heavy menstrual bleeding. Researchers hope to identify biological signals linked to heavy periods and related conditions - the findings could support earlier diagnosis, better care plans, and new tools to identify risks such as iron deficiency.
