Now that we've all seen the eclipse 🌒 how about some darting content for your social media feeds!? 😍 This week's academy write up is now here!

To begin with, the group was split in two for some board vs board challenges, on board 1 was Blake, Charlie, Alfred and Mentor Jack, board 2 was Rory, Finley D, Lexxi & Carter! We started off easy with black and white targets only counting, then red and green, then doubles and trebles followed by a bullseye challenge. To round off we had a game of killer which was won by Alfred!

After the break was our weekly Around the Clock Challenges, this week's winners were Finley D and Blake H! Well done to you both! 👏

Now, I don't normally give two awards to a student in one night but this week was an exception for a very good reason. Blake H hasn't been with us for very long and on Monday he completed the Advanced Around The Clock Challenge without missing a single target! That takes some doing, well done Blake! 👏

This week's Outstanding Performer was one of the easiest I've ever had to give, Carter played some of the best darts that we've ever seen him play this week. So much so, during the first half, when we were aiming for green trebles only, on his second visit he went and hit two T19s. He was showing the older students how it was done! During the game of killer, he was taking lives off everyone left, right and centre, it took mentor Jack to hit 2 x T4s to take him out, knowing how big the threat was to his team! Well done Lil Chid! 👏

Despite the weather and it being the summer holidays, this week's academy saw 6 junior dartists toe the oche and what a great session it was!

Mentor Paul had Rory, Blake and Harrison for the first half, whilst Jack had Charlie and the two Fins! Pauls board did some tough games of Half It, followed by some 301 Double-In Double-Out and Jack's board played some of Target Darts games, including "La Roja"! Jack's board then finished with some friendly games of killer!

After the much needed drinks break we did our weekly Around the Clock Challenges, this week's winners were Finley W and Harrison S! Well done lads! 👏

Receiving their Darting Journey Passport for completing their second week at the academy, was Charlie G! Welcome to the academy Charlie! 😊

There wasn't an Honorable Mention award this week but there was a standout Outstanding Performer. Rory P threw some sublime darts throughout the session and was unlucky not to win the Advanced Around The Clock Challenge, it took a Shanghai on 18s from Harrison to win it despite Rory completing the board and hitting all 20 targets! Well done Rory! 👏

The summer holidays certainly didn't stop us this week, the academy was bouncing with energy and eager dartists ready to showcase their skills!

For a change we did a board vs board challenge with team captains Blake and Rory choosing their team by virtue of a game of rock, paper, scissors! The session this week was designed to introduce some of our newer members of the academy to some of our existing members, creating new friendships and developing the support for one and other within the group. We did a series of target practice games, odd/even trebles and doubles with a bullseye challenge also thrown in. To end the first half we had a giant game of killer! Team Blake eventually winning the most challenges overall!

Once we'd all had a water break and 10 minutes to catch our breath (it was rather hot!) we went onto our Around the Clock Challenges, this week's winners were Fin D and for the first time on his second ever attempt, Blake H won the Advanced Around The Clock Challenge! 👏

Receiving this week's Honorable Mention award was academy debutant, Charlie G! Charlie started quietly and a little shy but as he grew into the session, his darts improved and so did his confidence! He then hit a Shanghai when trying the Around the Clock Challenge in reverse! Well done Charlie! (Mentor Jack approves of the Chelsea top!) 👏🦁

Receiving this weeks Outstanding Performer award was the young man that needs to introduction, especially for those who came to the Damon Heta Exhibition back in December, it was Oat, the Goat! Otis threw some excellent darts throughout the session but his personal best score of 30 in the Advanced Around The Clock Challenge was what stood out most for us and was a token of how far he has come since joining the academy! Well done Otis! 👏

This week's academy write up is here!

With school trips and end of school year plays taking place this week, the academy was quieter than normal but that didn't stop us from having some fun and with it came some excellent darts!

Mentor John wanted this week off which meant Mentor Darren stepped up to help out! On his board he had Carter, Alfred and Fin D playing games of killer, half it and Noughts and Crosses! Jack had Harley, Fin W and academy newcomer Blake continuing on with the Target Darts games of La Roja into La Verde, then a quick bullseye challenge before playing some games of Small 3!

After the break, we had our weekly Around the Clock Challenges, this week's winners were Alfred and Harley! Alfred winning by 1 point and Harley winning with a new academy record of 65 points! 👏

Winning this week's Honorable Mention award was academy newcomer, Blake! Setting a very good score of 40 in his challenge, Blake threw some excellent darts throughout the session and it's no surprise that he is being recognised by Devon Youth! Well done Blake!

Winning this week's Outstanding Performer was Finley D! Fin, after a shaky start, grew into the session and had an excellent attitude towards his darts and students on his board. As he grew more in confidence, his darts improved and ended up scoring very well in the last challenge that Darren set them! Well done Fin!

This week's academy write up is here! 😊

To start things off this week, Jack had been busy buying some new Harrows Darts Fortis Dartboards from Wes at Devon CountySport dont they look brilliant!? 😍

Secondly, the academy would like to thank Darren Chidler of Coastal Gifts Brixham for making individual keyrings for every student at the academy! Darren, the father of Little Chid, Carter, will also be stepping in to help mentor some sessions when John wants a break or is on holiday! So thank you and welcome to the academy Darren!

During the first half, continuing on from last week, Jacks board played some of the new Target Darts World Cup games and this week we played "La Roja", the group was split into pairs and it was a timed challenge of how many points could be scored using red targets only. We then created our own game of "La Verde" to make it green targets only! These games were also followed by a big game of Blind Blind Killer. John's board also had fun with games of killer and half it! 😊

As Jack had forgotten the certificates last week, Fin D and Carter C got theirs this week and to back up his fine form Fin went and then won this week's Around The Clock Challenge! With no Harley this week due to him being on holiday, it meant that we were going to be guaranteed a new winner of the Advanced Around The Clock Challenge for the first time in 10 weeks! This week's winner, by 1 point, was Harrison S!

This week's academy write up is here! But firstly, I have an admission to make.. For the first time ever, I forgot to print off the certificates! 🤦‍♂️

Aside from the certificate blunder, the rest of the session was brilliant! Mentor John had Otis, Tilda, Carter and Lexxi playing lots of games of killer etc, whilst Mentor Jack had Harrison, Harley and Finley! As it's the World Cup, Target Darts have been sharing some new practice ideas, so we implemented them into our session, starting with a game that we called the "Bow-Tie" in pairs it was the first team to Hit Double 11, Big 11, Treble 11, Small 11, 25, Bullseye, 25, Small 6, Treble 6, Big 6, Double 6. We then did this from 20s down to 3s. After, we then played a game that Target have called "Group of Death" but we did it with a twist. It's effectively, treble in, treble out, only darts on the treble and inner circle count. Learning to check out on trebles helped with the students set up play and treble hitting!

After breaktime we had our Around the Clock Challenges, this week's winners were Finley D and for a 10th week in a row, our Advanced Around the Clock Challenge winner was Harley-James F! Finley tied the first game against Carter C so a second round was played to decide the winner of the certificate, Finley came out the winner in that one!

This week's Outstanding Performer was none other than Little Chid himself, Carter C! It was only fair to give Carter this award this week after coming agonisingly close to winning his first ever Around the Clock Challenge! He threw some excellent darts throughout! Whilst they're tagged.. Target, keep an eye out on this young man! He's certainly one for the future! 👀

Receiving the Honourable Mention award this week was Harrison S. Harrison threw some fantastic darts during the session, whilst carrying Mentor Jack in the earlier challenges, including the winning treble in the Group of Death game! He also had a very respectable score of 37 in his challenge!
