We were delighted to support Margate FC Community Trust at their recent Community Gardens Open Event. 🌿

It was incredible to see the amazing impact their volunteers have made in such a short space of time. In just four weeks, a dedicated team of only six volunteers has transformed what was once an overgrown and unruly space within the grounds of our fantastic Margate FC into a beautiful, tranquil and landscaped garden that is accessible for all.

We were pleased to contribute to the event by providing home-baked pastries and fresh fruit kebabs, lovingly prepared by our talented chefs at Chartwell House. 🥐

It was also a pleasure to meet the inspiring Lee and his lovely support worker, Helen, as well as Ash, who was serving up the most delicious homemade scones, chutney and jam. His career as a Chef in the Merchant Navy was certainly evident! ⚓ We were pleased to join Ash in celebrating Merchant Navy Day at the same time, a lovely coincidence that made the day even more special.

A huge thank you to Collette and Pat for reaching out to us and inviting us to be part of this fantastic event. We’re always happy to support projects that make a positive difference in our local area. 💚

🚨 Just 2 days to go! 🚨

On Wednesday 9 September, we’ll be opening our doors at Chartwell House Care Home to say a huge THANK YOU to the incredible NHS and Emergency Services personnel who work tirelessly for our community.

From 8:00 - 12:00, NHS and Emergency Services colleagues are invited to join us for a complimentary breakfast in the beautiful surroundings of Chartwell House Care Home. 🍳🥓☕️

Short on time? No problem! We’ll also have takeaway options available.

Next stop… Germany! ✈️🇩🇪

Our residents were once again ready to pack their bags and head off on an Armchair Travels adventure, but first, there was just one small hurdle to overcome… security!

After passing our extremely strict security checks (we take our travel procedures very seriously at Chartwell House!), our travellers were cleared for take-off and whisked away to Germany! 🧳

There was plenty to discover, with German sights, culture and conversation bringing a little taste of the country to Chartwell House. And, of course, we couldn’t possibly send our travellers on their journey without refreshments.

Our chefs had been busy in the kitchen baking a delicious homemade apple strudel, which proved to be the perfect German treat. 🍎

Another successful journey, another country explored, and thankfully… no security breaches to report! 😂🇩🇪

The Thanet Stroke Support Group returns to Chartwell House on Tuesday 8 September, with a special session designed to support stroke survivors, their families and anyone who would like to learn more about stroke recovery.

The afternoon will begin with chair exercises for all abilities from 2:30pm–3:30pm, led by Move it or Lose it with Kelly. The session will focus on strengthening and helping to reduce muscle spasticity, providing a gentle and accessible way to keep moving and build confidence.

From 3:30pm–5:00pm, we will welcome Sophie Dougherty, a stroke survivor from Broadstairs, who will share her remarkable story of recovery and resilience. Sophie experienced a brain haemorrhage, stroke and spinal cord infarction at just 28 years old and spent more than six months in hospital. Six years on, she has regained her speech and mobility and now dedicates her time to raising awareness of stroke and supporting others.

This is a free session, with refreshments provided, and everyone is welcome.

🚐 Free wheelchair-accessible transport is available locally for anyone who would otherwise struggle to attend.

September is World Alzheimer's Month 💚

Curious to find ways to keep your loved one engaged at home? You're not alone. 🤔

The idea: build on the skills someone already has, rather than asking them to learn or remember something new.

Popcorn at the ready and a classic on the big screen. 🍿🎬

Residents from Chartwell House headed out to the Palace Cinema for a dementia-friendly screening of The Seven Year Itch. There was plenty to enjoy, from settling into the cinema seats with popcorn and drinks to watching a film that brought back memories for some. 💚

The conversation carried on after the credits too, with residents taking part in a reminiscence session and sharing their thoughts and memories together. That’s often the best bit about revisiting an old film, it gives people something familiar to connect over and plenty to talk about afterwards. 😊

There was a bit more than a pint waiting for residents at Chartwell. 🍺

Gary Gould, owner of local Shivering Sands Brewery and Tap Room, popped in to talk residents through how beer is made, bringing some of the ingredients along with him. Jars of hops and grains were passed around to smell and explore, before the part everyone was probably waiting for... tasting the finished product! 😄

It turned a familiar drink into something to get curious about, with plenty of conversation around where the flavours come from and what actually goes into brewing a pint.

A big thank you to Gary for sharing his knowledge, and of course for not arriving empty-handed. Cheers! 🍻💚

Our Admissions Manager, Jaye, and her husband, Lea, recently tied the knot in beautiful Cumbria, but they knew there was one very important part of their wedding celebrations still to come… ❤️💍

Since Jaye joined the Chartwell House team in January, Lea and their two daughters have become regular and much-loved visitors to the home. Lea has shared fascinating stories about life offshore with our residents, while their daughter Eden loves popping in to spend time with our residents and brighten their days 🥰

So, when Jaye and Lea said “I do” in Cumbria this month, they knew they wanted to bring the celebrations back to the residents and team they’ve come to know and love. And what a wonderful afternoon it was! 🎉

We celebrated with beautiful jazz hits performed by Zoe, a chance for Jaye and Lea to share their vows with everyone, plenty of bubbles 🥂, delicious wedding cake and, of course, lots of confetti!

There were smiles, laughter and perhaps a few happy tears as we all celebrated together.

A huge thank you to our wonderful team for making this celebration possible, and to everyone who came along to share the afternoon and wish the newlyweds well. ❤️

Congratulations, Jaye and Lea! We wish you both a lifetime of happiness, love and laughter together. ✨

It’s been a whole week since our wonderful Chartwell Country Fair, and we’ve been loving looking back through all the photos and videos from such a brilliant day! 🤠🌿

What a time we had! From spontaneous line dancing and plenty of singing, to lots of laughter, delicious food and wonderful company, the day was filled with fun, friendship and fantastic memories.

It was so special to see our residents, families, friends, team and local community coming together to enjoy a fabulous afternoon at Chartwell House ❤️

We couldn’t be prouder of Rejoyce, who has successfully completed her Level 3 Health and Social Care qualification! ✨

Rejoyce is always one of our happiest faces, but today she has been beaming more than ever! After receiving her certificate, she was quite literally skipping down the corridor with pride and excitement. 🥳 It was a lovely moment, and a wonderful reminder of what can happen when people are given the right opportunities to learn, grow and progress.

At Chartwell House, we believe that investing in our team is just as important as investing in the care we provide. We are committed to creating opportunities for our colleagues to develop their skills, gain qualifications, build confidence and progress both personally and professionally.
