Three weeks ago, if you’d told me I’d be writing and releasing music, I’d have laughed.

After my cycling accident, life came to a sudden stop. For the first time in a long while, I had time to sit still, reflect, and process everything that had happened.

Somewhere along the way I started writing.

At first it was just a way to get thoughts out of my head. Before long, those thoughts became songs about recovery, hearing loss, resilience, mental health and all the things we often keep to ourselves.

That eventually became two EPs.

🎸 The Stories We Don’t Tell
Modern country songs with an acoustic, storytelling feel.

🎧 The Stories We Don’t Tell: Reimagined
The very same songs and lyrics, but reworked into uplifting electronic tracks with a completely different energy.

I don’t really think of them as albums. They’re simply a collection of thoughts and experiences that were easier to write down than say out loud. If one of the songs makes someone feel a little less alone, then they’ve done exactly what I hoped they would.

I also wrote a blog explaining why I released two versions of the same songs and the story behind each one.

Over the next few days I’ll also share a bit more about the accident, the recovery, and how something I never expected ended up becoming a creative outlet I genuinely enjoy.

Same stories. Different sound. Your choice.

14th June — World Acoustic Neuroma Day

A date I never expected would become important to me.

In December 2023, after noticing changes with my hearing, an MRI found a right-sided Acoustic Neuroma (Vestibular Schwannoma).

A 19mm tumour growing on the nerve responsible for hearing and balance.

Thankfully mine is currently being monitored through Watch & Wait, with regular MRI scans.

The hardest thing to explain is that from the outside nothing looks different.

But every day there are reminders:

* the hearing I’ve lost 👂
* the tinnitus that never switches off 🔊
* the uncertainty that comes with each scan 🧠

However, something I’ve learned is that a diagnosis does not define what you can do.

Since diagnosis I’ve kept pushing forward:

🌊 Paddleboarding
🚴 Cycling
🏃 Running
🏅 Challenges and adventures

Not because I’m ignoring it — but because I’m choosing to keep living alongside it.

A brain tumour became part of my story, but it didn’t become my whole story.

To everyone living with an acoustic neuroma: you are not alone 💙

Different journey. Same determination.
