Fragrance has always been storytelling for me.

A scent can take us somewhere almost instantly. A garden we loved. A woodland walk. A season. A person. A moment in time we thought we had forgotten.

That is one of the reasons I feel so strongly that fragrance should be created with intention.

When I create a blend, I’m not simply thinking about whether it smells beautiful. I’m thinking about what it should evoke. Should it feel calming? Grounding? Restorative? Bright and uplifting? Soft and comforting?

This approach has shaped my recent collaboration with Sweet Bee Organics, where each seasonal fragrance blend was created to add another layer to the ritual of using their magnesium butter.

Because the right scent can become part of how we pause, reconnect and care for ourselves.

Have you ever noticed how quickly a scent can change the way you feel?

A particular fragrance might make you feel calmer, more uplifted, comforted or suddenly take you back to a memory you had almost forgotten.

This is because scent is closely connected with the parts of the brain involved in emotion, memory and instinctive responses.

That’s one of the reasons I find functional fragrance so fascinating.

When a blend is created with intention, it can become more than a beautiful scent. It can help shape the atmosphere of a room, support a bedtime or relaxation ritual, or become associated with a particular feeling over time.

For me, every blend begins with a simple question:

How do I want someone to feel?

That question guides the ingredients, the balance and the story of the fragrance.
