Beautiful Thelma dislocated her shoulder during a traumatic injury playing with another dog. She needed a complex shoulder stabilisation surgery to put her arm back into the socket. Her owner is a vet nurse, and knew Thelma would need intense physiotherapy to get her weight bearing through her leg again. Thelma’s owner was dedicated to her homework exercises, and she is now fully recovered and back running with her friends again. Despite being timid initially, she soon relaxed and enjoyed her physiotherapy treatments 🐾

This beautiful girl Raven has regular physio for her hip dysplasia. Hip dysplasia is a common orthopaedic condition in dogs that involves problems with the ball and socket joint in one or both back legs. Physio helps to relieve pain, and build up the muscles that help support the joint. For more severe cases, surgery can be undertaken, however this isn’t always possible. For these dogs like Raven, physio is even more important to keep her moving and pain free as the inevitable osteoarthritis develops 🐾

Strangely, teeth are something I get asked about a lot! Advice from the RCVS (the vet governing body) advises that proper dentistry should be done with an anaesthetic so that it can be completely effective for the whole mouth and less painful for your dog.

Remember most of the tooth health can be above the gum line, i.e. past where we can see in the awake, wriggly dog!

Just because teeth look whiter after ‘treatment’ doesn’t mean there isn’t underlying tooth disease. Think going to the dentist/hygienist for a tooth removal/filling vs home teeth whitening kits!

Teeth can be a huge source of pain, and dogs will nearly always keep gobbling down their food, leaving us as owners totally unaware there is a problem! Many vets offer free or discounted dental health checks.

🥹🥹 brown eyes to melt your heart ❤️ Charlie is having physio to help manage his torn cruciate ligament conservatively as he is unable to have surgery 🐾 He’s gone from holding his leg up and not wanting to move because of the pain, to weight bearing and managing small walks again. Although we will never be able to repair the ligament without surgery, he is comfortable, has a good quality of life and is back enjoying sniffs with the company of his friends 🐾
