Fear of flying is rarely about the plane, it is about control. People often dread trips for weeks, avoid holidays, and rely on constant distraction to get through airports and flights. The loop is anticipation, body tension, scary what if thoughts, safety behaviours, then avoidance, which teaches the brain flying must be dangerous.

With this client, I helped break the control loop by changing the learned association between flying and feeling trapped. We built a calm anchor, rehearsed the flight process safely, and worked on control and trust at a subconscious level so the nervous system stopped triggering threat before they even boarded.

The result is they can fly, they dread trips less, and travel feels possible again. If travel anxiety is limiting your lifestyle, message me to book a free initial consultation.

What if hypnosis could change the way your body prepares for stress before you’ve even started worrying?

A 2026 study in Scientific Reports looked at exactly that.

Researchers gave one group of participants a single 30-minute hypnosis session designed to create and reinforce a feeling of safety.

Over the following week, they measured what happened in the body, not just how relaxed people said they felt.

After hypnosis, participants showed a reduced cortisol awakening response and lower morning heart rate compared with before the session. The control group didn’t show the same pattern.

Why does that matter?

Because stress doesn’t always start with a conscious thought.

Your brain and body can begin preparing for pressure before you’re even fully aware of feeling anxious. That may help explain why some people wake up feeling on edge before they’ve even started thinking about the day ahead.

This was one study with 80 participants, so it doesn’t mean one hypnosis session will “fix” morning anxiety. Cortisol is also a normal and important part of our biology.

But it does add to a growing area of research showing that hypnosis may influence more than how relaxed you feel in the moment.

Everyone joined me today for this week’s RESET Live, and our session was all about Allowing Yourself to Feel Good.

It sounds like such a simple thing, doesn’t it?

But how often does something good happen and your mind barely lets it register before moving straight on to the next thing?

Someone gives you a compliment and you brush it off.

You have a lovely day, but your mind focuses on the one thing that didn’t quite go right.

You sit down to relax and immediately start thinking about what you should be doing instead.

Or everything feels okay… but part of you is already waiting for something to change.

That’s what we worked on today.

Giving yourself permission to enjoy the good moments. To feel content. To notice when things are okay and actually let yourself experience that, rather than rushing past it.

No forced positivity. No pretending everything in life is wonderful.

Just noticing what already feels good and staying with it long enough to really take it in.

Because you don’t need every part of your life to be perfect before you’re allowed to feel good.

And that’s a big part of what RESET is about.

Every Thursday at 11am, I host a live guided hypnotherapy session focused on a different area of emotional wellbeing.

And if Thursdays at 11am don’t work for you, that’s absolutely fine. You don’t need to attend live.

When you join RESET, you get 24/7 access to the full catalogue of sessions in the members’ area, so you can choose what you need and listen whenever it suits you.

Confidence. Motivation. Perfectionism. Emotional boundaries. Future worry. Resilience. Switching off. Feeling good… and so much more.

The catalogue grows every single week too.

It's exhausting to feel trapped in a cycle of constant health scanning and "what if" thoughts, feeling that overwhelming surge of panic when a small sensation feels like a major threat. It is incredibly draining, but I want you to know that you do not have to carry this weight alone.

ADHD self talk can be brutal.

It can sound like “What’s wrong with me?”, “Why can’t I just do it?”, “I’m so lazy”, “I always mess things up”, “Everyone else finds this easy”. And when you’ve heard that voice for years, it starts to feel like the truth, even when it isn’t.

A lot of the time that inner voice is built from old experiences. Being told you’re too much, too sensitive, not trying hard enough, wasting your potential, always late, always forgetting. Over time, those messages get repeated inside your own head.

And here’s the thing. A neurospicy brain doesn’t respond to shame. It responds to safety, support, and the right kind of structure.

In my hypnotherapy sessions, I help you change the self talk at the root, not just “think positively” over the top of it.

We look at the patterns underneath the criticism, like perfectionism, fear of getting it wrong, rejection sensitivity, and the pressure to keep up. Then we work with the subconscious beliefs that keep the harsh voice alive.

Hypnotherapy helps me soften that automatic inner critic and build a more helpful internal voice, one that actually motivates you without making you feel awful. We also build self trust, so you can make mistakes, reset, and keep going without spiralling into “I’m a failure”.

If your inner voice is wearing you down, contact me to book a free initial consultation and we’ll chat about what’s been going on.

Feeling a bit unsure about hypnotherapy? I totally get it. I remember having my own questions and that little flicker of anxiety before my first session. That’s exactly why I offer a free, one-hour consultation right here in Bromsgrove.

It’s your chance to sit with me, Louise, in a relaxed space with no pressure. You can ask absolutely anything.

✨ What to ask in your free chat:
- How does hypnotherapy actually *feel*?
- Will I lose control or be made to do anything silly? (Spoiler: you won’t 😊)
- How can it help with anxiety, OCD, or your specific goal?
- What would a tailored session look like for you?

This appointment is about you feeling safe and informed. We’ll explore why your mind might be stuck in a loop, and you’ll leave knowing if I’m the right hypnotherapist for you.

There’s no obligation. Just clarity and a step toward lasting change.

Health anxiety can feel relentless because the checking never really ends. The day can be spent body scanning, noticing every sensation, Googling symptoms, and seeking reassurance that only settles things for a moment before the doubt returns. It becomes a loop your brain gets used to, sensation equals check, relief, then the urge comes back again.

In sessions, I helped interrupt that pattern so the brain stopped relying on checking as the solution. We built tolerance of uncertainty, reduced safety behaviours like Googling and repeated checking, and created calmer body responses first so sensations stopped feeling so threatening.

The change now is less checking, less Googling, and more trust in coping with sensations. If you feel stuck in checking cycles, message me to book a free initial consultation.
