What a cracking summer ☀️ 🍦

Some may say it’s been too hot, but we’ve been keeping cool in the swimming pool, dipping our feet in the paddling pool, lots of ice cream, visiting churches- they are suitabley cool and a particular favourite for ‘M’.

Air conditioned at the cinema and bowling.

The weather has allowed us beautiful visits to the Falconry Centre, The Riverside Garden at Webb’s, Packwood House, Baddesley Clinton, Hanbury Hall, Sanders Park, Waseley Hills, Droitwich Lido, Arrow Valley and Croome park… I’ve definitely missed some out as we’ve visited so many places I’ve lost track!

We were also invited to some very special care homes in the area. So lucky to see the wonderful residents and staff at Millcroft Care Home, Haywood Lodge and St John’s Court Nursing Home. Participating in their activities with weekly yoga, singers and entertainment, The Bee Keeper, African Drums, a visiting Lama and so much more.

We’ve also been to the Circus, watched films at the cinema and visited our friends at several local dementia clubs.

We’ve had high energy moments as well as nice quiet times sitting having a picnic and listening to the birds, feeding the ducks and enjoying nature.

We’ve been shopping and baking, crafting and puzzling.

Honestly when I look back at photos and see what we’ve done in the past 6 weeks I am totally shocked and grateful to be there to support these wonderful people and their families 🥰

As always the best photos are saved for my clients and their families to enjoy. But here are a few snapshots 📸

Bespoke Moments - June 2026 💛

This month I wanted to share some moments that mattered. Nothing big or grand, just a special moment that created connection and good feeling.

🌹 The moment ‘M’ smelled roses in the sunshine and was transported back to a special time

🥇 The moment ‘K’ won a medal for the highest Boccia score, cheered on by her whole team

♥️ The moment I walked into hospital to see ‘A’, and she almost leapt from her chair to see a familiar face

🎶 Moments of connecting to music
🌳 Moments of enjoying nature
🐦‍⬛Moments of quiet, listening to the birds

🤍 Moments shared with friends and a mutual understanding, even if not everything makes sense 🤍

🍦 Not forgetting the moment it was sooooo hot 🥵 we decided to get a McDonalds McFlurry and sit in my air conditioned car to enjoy it and cool down 😎

These moments are special for them, special for me and special for families

Supporting learning difficulties and sharing moments….

Our time together is about doing things side by side.
Walking, swimming, group activities. She lights up when she’s part of it, and in the kitchen, she’s right there with me.

We picked ingredients at the shop, cut fruit together and prepared food.
Fresh fruit salad, homemade pizza to take home to her lovely family.

It’s about building confidence with every task.
That’s how skills grow, and how good days are made 💚 🌼

A good day isn’t always about ticking things off the list.

For two of my clients, the visit looks like this…

We sit. We talk. We reminisce about things I wasn’t around for, but still feel like I know.

I do have little jobs to take care of while I’m there, making tea, sorting a drawer, putting a wash on. But I don’t try to do both at once.
When it’s conversation time, it’s conversation time. They get my full attention.
When it’s task time, I handle that separately.

Loneliness needs a person who stays long enough to hear you, without half-listening 🩷

What does a good day look like with vascular dementia?

For us, it looks like this:

Roy Orbison on repeat in the car. Singing along, to every word and trying to hit those high notes!

Live music at the dementia club. Real connection with community. Clapping, smiling, tapping and laughing.

Avoncroft museum. Stopping to look, to point, to share a moment without needing the right words.

Sometimes the sentence fades before the end. But I know where she’s going. I wait, I listen, I meet her there.
Because a good day isn’t about getting everything said. It’s about feeling understood.

That’s what I’m here for.

If you’re supporting someone with vascular dementia, you’ll know, connection is everything. The rest is just detail. Always meet them where they are, not where you think they should be 💙 💛
