Shoulder pain should not be accepted as simply part of swimming. 🏊

Swimmer’s shoulder can develop when repetitive overhead movements place more strain on the shoulder than it can tolerate. Pain, weakness, fatigue or a noticeable reduction in performance may be signs that the shoulder needs attention.

Early assessment can help identify the underlying cause and guide the appropriate treatment, which may include training modification, physiotherapy, technique correction and targeted strengthening.

β˜€οΈ Stay active this summer β€” without ignoring what your body is telling you.

Tennis, padel, swimming, gardening, DIY and lifting heavy luggage can all place extra strain on the shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand β€” particularly when activity increases suddenly.

Pain during or after exercise, reduced strength, stiffness, swelling or numbness should not simply be pushed through. A proper warm-up, gradual progression, good technique and regular breaks can help reduce the risk of injury.

Specialist assessment is recommended when pain persists for more than one or two weeks, follows a fall or injury, causes a sudden loss of strength, or repeatedly returns.

Mr Pantelis Tsantanis provides expert, evidence-based care, prioritising non-surgical treatment wherever appropriate and recommending surgery only when necessary.

🏏 Cricket demands strength, control and repetition from the entire upper limb.

Bowling, throwing and batting can place considerable stress on the shoulder, elbow, wrist and handβ€”particularly when training intensity increases too quickly or recovery is insufficient.

Persistent pain, weakness, stiffness, reduced movement or loss of grip strength should not simply be played through. These symptoms may indicate an injury that requires appropriate assessment and treatment.

A proximal humerus fracture is a break near the top of the upper arm bone, close to the shoulder joint. It is commonly seen after a fall onto the shoulder or an outstretched arm. 🦴

Symptoms may include shoulder pain, swelling, bruising and difficulty lifting or moving the arm. Early assessment is important, as treatment depends on the fracture pattern, bone quality, age, activity level and individual goals.

Many cases can be managed without surgery using a sling, pain relief and guided physiotherapy, while more complex or displaced fractures may require surgical treatment. βœ…

Prompt specialist assessment helps guide the right treatment plan and supports the best possible recovery. πŸ’ͺ

Pins and needles in the ring and little fingers should not be ignored. πŸ–οΈ

This pattern of symptoms can sometimes be linked to irritation or compression of the ulnar nerve around the elbow, known as cubital tunnel syndrome.

Assessment is especially important if symptoms are becoming more frequent, lasting longer, or affecting grip strength and hand function.

Gardening is a wonderful way to stay active, but repetitive gripping, pruning, digging and forceful squeezing can sometimes irritate the flexor tendons in the hand. πŸŒΏβœ‹

Trigger finger may cause the finger or thumb to catch, click, lock or feel stiff, especially in the morning. When symptoms persist, early specialist assessment can help reduce discomfort and prevent worsening stiffness.

Small changes, rest, splinting, hand exercises or targeted treatment may help restore smoother hand movement and make daily activities more comfortable again. πŸ‘

🎾 Wimbledon Tournament & Upper Limb Tennis Injuries

Tennis is a wonderful sport for fitness, coordination and competition β€” but the repetitive demands of serving, gripping and striking the ball can place significant load on the shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand.

From shoulder overload to tennis elbow-type pain, many upper limb problems develop gradually, especially when training volume increases or pain is ignored.

Early assessment, good technique, appropriate strengthening and sensible rest can all play an important role in prevention and recovery. 🦾

PRP injections are one of the biological treatment options that may be considered for selected tendon problems of the upper limb. πŸ’‰πŸ¦΄

Platelet-Rich Plasma uses a small sample of the patient’s own blood, which is processed to concentrate platelets and growth factors, then injected into the target area to support the body’s healing response.

It is not suitable for everyone, and results can vary β€” which is why specialist assessment is essential before deciding whether PRP is the right option. βœ…
