🌸☀️ Sensory Scents at The Old School House ☀️🌸

Our residents enjoyed a wonderful Scents sensory activity, putting their noses to the test as they tried to identify a selection of familiar and nostalgic scents! 👃✨

From lemon juice, almond and vanilla to apple sauce, cherry jam and Branston Pickle, there were plenty of interesting smells to recognise. We also explored ginger, mint sauce and rosemary 🌿🍋🍒

It was lovely to see our residents sharing memories, having a giggle and reminiscing about familiar smells from their past. Sensory activities like this are a fantastic way to encourage conversation, stimulate the senses and bring back special memories. 💕🌸

Walking into the lounge to let everyone know they had won was such a special moment! 🏆🧁❤️

The cheers, huge smiles and excitement that filled the room were absolutely priceless! They were all over the moon to hear the wonderful news, and seeing how proud and happy they were made the moment even more memorable. 🥰

The moment we’ve all been waiting for… we can finally announce the winner of The Great British Bake Off! Please take a look at our homes entries!🎂🏆

Firstly, we would like to say a HUGE well done to all of the homes who took part! Brough Manor Care Home Ltd The Old Vicarage Residential Care Home. The teamwork, creativity and enthusiasm shown throughout the competition was absolutely brilliant. 👏❤️

🎩 Introducing our new Gentlemen’s Club! 🎩

We’re excited to be introducing a brand new monthly activity at The Old School House from September! Our Gentlemen’s Club will be a relaxed and enjoyable opportunity for our gentlemen to get together, enjoy good conversation, share stories and memories, and take part in activities chosen around their interests. From quizzes and games to music, football, hobbies, reminiscence and, of course, plenty of tea, coffee and good company! ☕⚽🎶

We want this to be their club, their ideas and their time, so if you have a loved one who you think would enjoy the Gentlemen’s Club or if there’s an activity you think they would particularly enjoy please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us. We’d love to hear your suggestions and make our activities as meaningful and enjoyable as possible for everyone. 💙

Take a look at our entry for The Great British Bake Off! 🎂✨

Our residents who have taken part in making and decorating the cake have done an absolutely amazing job. Their creativity, teamwork and enthusiasm have really shone through, and we couldn’t be prouder of their masterpiece! 👏❤️

A huge thank you to Lorna for leading this activity, you’ve done a brilliant job bringing everyone together and making it such a fun experience, and to Lucy for helping decorate!

I think we can all agree… the cake looks AMAZING, we even included Lavender and herbs from our very own sensory garden!🎂😍
