WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY.
I know I have been so slack with this page but life has just been crazy recently, I’ve been going through my own struggles and I’ve just been taking each day as it comes and doing my best to control and manage my anxiety.
lockdown was the hardest year of my life. The world went mad, we were all isolated and for me I just couldn’t cope. I finally let go of a huge secret that I’d been harbouring for the longest time and I crumbled. My mum and Jake had to get me emergency help from the mental health team who were amazing and I was put on strong medication. A year later and although I am still battling with my anxiety every. damn. day, I am now off all my medication and granted the last couple of months I have really struggled to keep my head above water.. I am SO proud at how far I have come.
Anxiety for me is not being able to live in the moment. To enjoy the little things. I’m always anxious about the things that haven’t even happened yet. I worry about the future and the struggles that may or may not happen. Jakes working away a lot at the moment and I worry about the day he goes away again before he has even arrived home for a day off!! I find myself wishing “uncomfortable” or stressful days away instead of just taking them as they are and enjoying the little things and then before I know it, another week has flown by which then causes more anxiety because I feel like my life is flashing before my eyes! It’s exhausting but I’m really working hard on it. The evenings I feel stressed or anxious, I take myself off to the gym for a workout or a swim. I’ve started listening to a positive mindset podcast & I TALK. Probably way too much for some people but I don’t keep how I feel to myself. I don’t hide it which is what I used to do and for me that is so important.
In order to normalise mental health issues, we need to talk! We are all only human, we aren’t robots, we have feelings and we struggle and that is totally ok! It’s ok to protect your mental health, look after yourself and do what makes you happy. Enjoy the little things in life, they are often the most important ❤️
