You've landed.🛬
Everyone else's ears have popped.

Yours? Still full. Still muffled. Like you're stuck underwater.
For most people this clears in a few hours. Yawn, swallow, sip some water, and it sorts itself out.

But if you're a day or two home and that blocked feeling is STILL hanging about?
That's worth a look.

Sometimes it's wax. Sometimes it's a bit of fluid behind the eardrum that's slow to clear. We can tell you which in minutes.

Tinnitus - that ringing, buzzing or humming in your ears - affects more people than you might think. It's estimated around 1 in 8 people in the UK experience it to some degree.

It can be unsettling when it first starts, and it's easy to worry that something is seriously wrong. The good news: for many people, tinnitus can be managed effectively with the right support.

The first step is always to get it assessed properly. A tinnitus consultation helps identify any underlying factors and opens up a conversation about practical ways to reduce the impact it has on your daily life.

At Buckingham Hearing Care, we offer specialist tinnitus assessments and management support. You don't have to put up with it and hope it goes away.

Been swimming this summer?🏊‍♀️
👂Got an ear that's gone itchy, achy, a bit muffled a day or two later?
👂That's swimmer's ear.
Here's what's happening: water sits in your ear canal, bacteria move in, and the whole thing gets sore and tender. Tug your earlobe and it stings a bit. Classic sign.

The good news? It's easily sorted, and easily avoided.

After a swim: Tip your head. Let each ear drain. Dry the outside gently with a towel.

What NOT to do: Jam a towel corner or a cotton bud in there to "dry it out." That's exactly how it starts.

If an ear's already sore, blocked or weeping, don't wait it out.
Give us a ring on 07793 219739 and we'll take a proper look.

Most people assume hearing loss affects both ears equally. But asymmetric hearing loss - where one ear is noticeably worse than the other - is more common than people realise, and it's worth getting checked.

Sometimes there's a simple explanation, like wax on one side. But one-sided hearing changes can occasionally indicate something that needs a proper look at, which is why we always recommend a full assessment rather than waiting to see if it evens out.

Signs to look out for:
⚠️struggling to tell which direction sound is coming from
⚠️finding it easier to use one ear on the phone
⚠️or noticing that one ear feels blocked or muffled.

If any of that sounds familiar, it's worth getting it properly checked. A hearing assessment will give you a clear picture of what's happening in both ears and peace of mind either way.

You've noticed something's not quite right. Maybe conversations feel harder than they used to. Maybe you're asking people to repeat themselves a bit more often. Maybe someone in your family has said something.

And you've been meaning to get it looked at. Just… not quite yet.

We hear this a lot and we completely understand it.
Getting your hearing checked can feel like a big step, especially if you're worried about what the result might be.

But here's what most people tell us afterwards: they wish they'd done it sooner. A hearing assessment is straightforward, comfortable and takes less than an hour. You'll leave knowing exactly where you stand and that's almost always a relief.

No pressure. Just a gentle nudge. 👉https://buckinghamhearingcare.co.uk/book-now

Flying off somewhere nice this summer? ✈️

Quick checklist so your hearing aids travel as well as you do:
✈️ Hand luggage. Never the hold.
✈️ Pack spare batteries or your charger.
✈️ Going somewhere hot? Bring a little drying pot. Sweat and humidity are the enemy.
✈️ Plug adapter. Easy to forget.

And the big question everyone asks us: Can you leave them in for take-off and landing?
Yes. Cabin pressure doesn't bother them at all.

One more thing. If anything's felt off lately, a crackle, a quiet moment, a dodgy battery, sort it before you go.
Far better here than at the departure gate.

The school holidays are here 🫨 and with six weeks stretching ahead, it's actually the perfect time to tick a few things off the list.

If your child's teacher has mentioned concerns about their hearing, attention, or listening in class - or if you've noticed they seem to ask for things to be repeated more than other children do - a hearing assessment is a simple and reassuring place to start.

Getting it checked during the summer means no disrupted school days, no rushing, and plenty of time to follow up before September if anything needs attention.

Amberly sees children as well as adults at Buckingham Hearing Care. Appointments are calm, child-friendly and thorough — and children often find the whole thing far less daunting than their parents expect.

Festival season is here.

And if you're heading somewhere loud this summer, your ears would like a quick word.
👂That ringing the morning after a gig?
👂The dull, muffled feeling that lingers?
That's not just the sign of a good night. That's your hearing taking a battering. And over the years, those nights add up.

Now, the fix is NOT the foam earplugs that turn music into mush.

Proper filtered protection turns the whole thing down evenly. Music still sounds like music. Just at a level your ears will actually thank you for.

Brilliant for festivals. Brilliant for any teenager heading off to their first one.

If you've ever stepped off a plane with ears that feel completely blocked, you'll know how uncomfortable it can be.

For people who already have a build-up of ear wax, flying can make it much worse. The pressure changes during take-off and landing push wax further into the ear canal, making it feel like someone has turned the volume down on the world.
The good news? It's easy to sort before you go.

If you've been noticing any muffling, fullness or reduced hearing, it's worth getting your ears checked before your trip. Microsuction ear wax removal is quick, safe and comfortable — and you'll board the plane feeling much better for it.

Heading away this summer? Book in with us before you fly.
