There is so much noise out there telling us to fight the clock, to erase the years, and to treat time like an enemy. But what if we paused and changed the narrative?

An eclipse, like a giant clock in the heavens, reminds us that shadows, light, and the passage of time are all part of a beautifully intentional design. The sun doesn’t panic when the shadow hits, and it doesn’t try to fight the cycle. It flows through the rhythm it was given.

The lines on our faces are a map of our lives… proof that we have laughed, cried, grown, loved, and persevered. They aren’t flaws to be fixed, they are part of a beautiful, unfolding creation.

💛 The things we struggle with… can become the things that shape your purpose.

12 years ago, I was a mum trying to soothe my children’s eczema. Nights were long, skin was sore, and I spent so much time searching for something gentle enough for sensitive skin.

That journey led me to start formulating natural skincare at home, which eventually became Shaloah Skincare - a handmade natural skincare brand created for sensitive and eczema-prone skin.

Today, one of my not so little boys is helping me cut our handmade soap.

As I watched him carefully slicing each bar, I couldn’t help but reflect on how something that began in struggle has grown into something so meaningful - a small family business rooted in care, comfort, and natural healing.

Every bar of handmade soap, every jar of cream, is still made with the same intention it began with: to support dry skin, sensitive skin, and eczema-prone skin using gentle, natural ingredients.

Some stories only make sense when you look back. 💛

✨When I asked ChatGPT for branding guidelines, it gave me something that was clean, simple, safe…

BUT bland and generic. It wasn’t right.

Because branding isn’t just about choosing pretty fonts, colours, or creating something that looks nice on Instagram. A brand should be a visual expression of what you believe, why you do what you do, and the impact you hope to have on people’s lives.

So before I chose a single colour or font, I went back to the foundations and asked myself:

✨ Why does Shaloah exist?
✨ What do I want people to feel when they discover the brand?
✨ What transformation am I really helping to create?
✨ What sits at the heart of everything I make?

Yes, I want people to have healthy, comfortable skin, but it goes deeper.

The real outcome is confidence and hope. It’s feeling comfortable in your own skin again.

No longer hiding your hands because they’re cracked and sore
Feeling hopeful after trying product after product with no success
Creating a small moment of calm and self-care in a hectic world
Helping people reconnect with nature and themselves
Feeling nurtured, supported, and cared for
Knowing someone understands the emotional impact of sensitive skin because I’ve lived it too

That deeper purpose became the foundation for every branding decision that followed:

The colours needed to feel uplifting, hopeful and full of life.
The imagery needed to feel connected to nature, beauty and wellbeing.
The typography needed to feel elegant and trustworthy, yet approachable.
The illustrations needed to reflect craftsmanship, authenticity, and natural ingredients.
The words needed to feel nurturing, reassuring and human.

Because Shaloah has never been just about skincare.

It’s about helping people feel more comfortable, more confident, more connected to themselves, and more able to embrace the simple things in life.

A good brand isn’t built from colours and fonts.
It’s built from purpose.

The colours, typography, imagery and design simply become the visual language that communicates that purpose to the world.

And that’s why I trusted my intuition on this one. There's a lesson in there somewhere!✨

This isn’t just a fresh colour palette or new fonts. It’s a reflection of everything Shaloah Skincare has become and what it stands for. It’s all important, from the choice of the fonts to the imagery, every part of this tells the story of our journey.

Those were dark times...

I never set out to build a skincare business. I was simply trying to ease my child’s suffering of severe eczema. What grew from that time became Shaloah Skincare - but the struggle came first.

As I refresh this brand, I’m not starting over. I’m returning to the heart of why it exists.

Here’s what I’ve learned about building a brand that truly connects:

A brand isn’t built on nice colours, a fancy logo, pretty packaging.

It’s built on truth. On lived experience. On the reason you started in the first place.

I want my brand to reflect everything I do - let it guide my decisions big and small.

I want it to communicate my values clearly - so people instantly know what I stand for.

And last but not least I want it to make you feel the 'why' behind my products - connection comes before aesthetics.

Without the story, it might look beautiful, but it won’t feel real. And people can sense that. We are all craving connection, now more than ever.
