Today, my foster son and I built a car park together as this is one of his current special interest.s. 🚗
Being led by a child’s interests is about so much more than play. It’s about building connection, creating a sense of safety, and showing them that what matters to them matters to us.
As a play therapist, I’m reminded time and again that some of the most meaningful moments happen when we simply step into a child’s world and enjoy it with them.
💛 Play is where connection grows.

As I write postcards for the children I work with, I’m reminded that connection doesn’t simply disappear when the school year ends.

For many children, the summer break brings excitement. For others, it can also bring uncertainty, changes in routine, or simply missing the familiar rhythm of play therapy.
These little postcards are a way of saying: I’m thinking of you. I’m holding you in mind over the summer. You haven’t been forgotten.

Sometimes a small gesture can help a child feel remembered, valued, and connected until we meet again.

Wishing all my wonderful clients a summer filled with moments of joy, play, rest, and gentle care.

Feeling incredibly grateful today. 💐
I was so touched to receive these beautiful flowers from a family as we came to the end of our work together. It has been a privilege to walk alongside them, witness their child’s growth, and support their journey.
Moments like these remind me what an honour it is to be a play therapist. Thank you for your kindness and trust. ❤️

🦁✨ The newest additions to my play therapy kit have been a big hit this week!

So many children have been excited to use the Lion King characters in the sand tray, creating stories, exploring feelings, and expressing themselves through play.
It’s amazing how a few new figures can inspire so much creativity and connection. ❤️

Half term relaxation 🌸☀️
Healing doesn’t only happen in the playroom.�Sometimes it’s found in sunshine, the scent of roses, laughter around the dinner table, and slow evenings in the garden.
Children regulate through connection, play, rest, nature, and feeling safe with the people around them.�And honestly… adults do too.
Wishing everyone moments of calm, colour, and connection this half term 💗

There is something so special about reaching the end of a therapeutic journey and reflecting on how far a child has come 💛

✨Inviting children to create a safe home for animals using clay, crystals, natural materials, and miniature treasures.
Without needing to use words, children can explore themes of safety, connection, protection, and care. The process of building and arranging helps children express feelings symbolically, develop emotional regulation, strengthen problem-solving skills, and experience a sense of control and nurture in a safe therapeutic space.
The animals often become reflections of parts of the child’s inner world — allowing emotions, experiences, and needs to be communicated gently through play.

Play is a child’s natural language, and through creativity, healing can begin. ✨
