When you're dealing with inflammation, whether that's bloating, joint aches, fatigue, headaches or skin flare-ups, it can be so tempting to throw everything at it...

Cut out gluten. Cut out dairy. Buy the supplements. Start a completely new diet on Monday.

But often, that can lead to even more overwhelm and not doing nothing consistently.

The truth is, supporting inflammation doesn't have to mean changing everything overnight. Small, realistic changes that you can actually stick to are often far more effective than an all-or-nothing approach.

If you're not sure where to start, I've created a free Inflammation Reset guide to help you build the foundations without the overwhelm.

This gentle 3-day anti-inflammatory reset is designed for those living with autoimmune conditions, chronic inflammation, low energy and flare-ups. It will help you make a few simple, realistic changes to help support your body without restrictive diets or changing everything overnight.

Inside you’ll find simple food swaps, easy meal ideas, supportive lifestyle tips, and practical guidance to help make healthy choices feel more manageable.

LUNCH comes up a lot with clients in clinic - Not only what they're eating but HOW they eat lunch.

We all lead busy lives and for many of us making time for lunch can be a real challenge. But how we eat can have a huge impact on digestive symptoms such as indigestion, acid reflux, bloating, wind and constipation.

So I'm interested to know how do you eat lunch? Comment below or vote in the poll on my story.

- I don't eat lunch
- On the go
- At my desk working/scrolling
- Relaxed at a table, screen free

Your plate has power over your brain chemistry.

Certain nutrients help your body produce serotonin and dopamine — the “feel-good” brain chemicals.

🌊 Omega-3s (oily fish, walnuts)
🥚 B vitamins (eggs, leafy greens)
🎃 Tryptophan (turkey, pumpkin seeds)

Building these into your day can give your mood a gentle lift, especially during stressful times.

This is why I do what I do. 😃

There's nothing better than hearing clients tell me they've noticed a difference. That symptoms have improved and day-to-day life feels a little easier.

Some highlights from this week:

A client I've been supporting for the past five months is now successfully managing her reflux through diet and lifestyle changes and, with the support of her GP, has come off her PPI medication.

An autoimmune client experiencing significant improvements in fatigue.

Another autoimmune client whose energy has improved to the point where she's now able to go for a walk every day and no longer needs to collapse on the sofa for a nap after work.

These might sound like small things, but when you've been living with ongoing symptoms, they're anything but.

As a nutritional therapist, my goal isn't perfection, it's helping people feel more like themselves again. More energy, fewer symptoms. More confidence in their body and the ability to do the things that matter to them.

Every client is different, and results are never guaranteed, but seeing these kinds of changes reminds me why I love what I do.

🌡️ Heat, Humidity & Rheumatoid Arthritis: Why Summer Isn't Always Easier

While many people look forward to warm weather, for some living with rheumatoid arthritis or other chronic health conditions, a heatwave can bring its own challenges.

Intuitively you'd think warm weather (vs cold) would be helpful for joint pain, but in my experience that's not always the case. Personally when my RA was active I found that humidity had a bigger impact on my joint pain than temperature - not ideal when you live in a rather damp Yorkshire climate!

And whilst dry warmth can bring some relief, many people report increased joint pain, stiffness, fatigue and swelling during humid weather. While research hasn't found a clear explanation, changes in air pressure, fluid balance and the body's ability to regulate temperature may all play a role.

Heat can also place extra stress on the body, potentially contributing to:
☀️ Increased fatigue
☀️ Poorer sleep
☀️ Dehydration
☀️ Brain fog
☀️ Reduced motivation to move

So if you find your symptoms are worse during hot, humid weather, you're not imagining it. Be kind to yourself, sometimes our bodies need a little extra support to get through periods of environmental stress.

Do you find heat or humidity affects your symptoms? I'd be interested to hear your experience.

Overwhelm! Let’s be honest it’s very easy to feel overwhelmed in the world we live in…. The 24/7 news cycle, the constant stimulation we have access to, the never ending information overload of what we ‘should’ be doing to stay healthy/ be a good parent/ build our career. And that’s on top of all the day-to-day just keeping things going tasks!

We all experience overwhelm at times but it@can can become even more of an issue when you’re navigating chronic illness. It’s something that comes up a lot with my clients and it’s definitely part of my role to help them deal with that. To help them ‘see the wood for the trees’ and focus on what’s important at that moment.

If you’re dealing with inflammation, feeling overwhelmed and don’t know where to start, check out my free download The Gentle 3-day Inflammation Reset via link in bio or here: https://bethhughesnutrition.com/inflammation-reset/

How do you experience overwhelm and what do you do to tackle it? I’d love to hear your thoughts below 👇
