Do you work in a school and are you ready?

Important update for schools and allergy safety.

The new statutory guidance supporting Benedict’s Law has now been published.

If you work in education, now is the perfect time to review your school’s allergy policies, emergency procedures and staff training.

Being prepared doesn’t just build confidence it could save a child’s life.

Have you had a chance to read the new guidance yet?

One of the things I enjoy most about my work is that no two weeks are ever the same.

This week started with a run, followed by delivering anaphylaxis training, including the use of adrenaline auto-injectors (AAIs), moving and handling training, and first aid training.

I finished the week at the Blackburn Festival of Making, taking some time to enjoy the atmosphere and watch some fantastic acts.

Great to see the town packed with people, local businesses, families and, of course, plenty of sheep!

There’s something special about events that bring a community together, and today certainly did that.

motivation completely jumped in the bin!

For two weeks, I didn’t run at all.

Then my best friend said three simple words…

‘Just do it.’

No big speech. No magic formula. Just the little push I needed.

So, Week 3 Day 1, off we went, Benji and I. Even the farmers were out spreading the smelly stuff!

Day 2, I hit the canal on a beautiful sunny day.

Day 3, I got up early and went on my own because I’d made a decision…

There were no choices. Just do it.

I’m so proud that I got myself back into the swing of things.

Now, let’s see what Week 4 brings!

I have been working with Making Space on a monthly basis to support staff wellbeing, resilience, and leadership development.

sickness absence
reliance on agency staff
staff morale and engagement
managers to lead with confidence
communication and teamwork

Using staff engagement sessions, wellbeing workshops, and leadership support, we have created opportunities for staff to share their experiences, identify challenges, and suggest practical improvements.

Small conversations. Big impact

Can You Help?

Do you, or someone you know, has experienced a severe allergic reaction?

I’m doing some research to help improve education and awareness around severe allergic reactions and would love to chat with people who have lived experience.

I’d like to understand how this affects daily life and what people can do to help in an emergency, with or without medication.

If you’re happy to help, please comment below or send me a message.

Thank you 🙏

I nearly didn’t do Day 3 today.

My mindset was telling me to stay at home, make excuses, and leave it for another day.

Thanks to all your support and encouragement, I got my trainers on and got it done.

I’ve realised the journey isn’t about changing the words in your head but proving to yourself that you can do hard things.

One step at a time!

Getting feedback means the world.

Massive thank you to Martin and the team for the amazing feedback after their training session.

“Engaging, funny and interactive” is definitely a great outcome.
