💪 120 PULL-UPS AND COUNTING! 💪

Quick little update on my 310 Pull-Ups Challenge for Cancer Research UK 🎗️

I’ve officially hit 120 pull-ups so far! 🙌 Not every single one has made it onto camera (because apparently filming myself suffering every time isn’t always practical 😂), but they’re getting done!

120 down. 190 to go. 💪

Definitely feeling them now, but I’m determined to get all 310 done before the end of August.

Every pull-up is for an amazing cause and I’m so grateful to everyone who’s supported, donated or just cheered me on along the way. ❤️

A little peek into my life, and the person behind Lumina… ❤️

I’m Sarah — mum to five, daughter, friend, advocate, music lover, gym-goer and Funeral Director.

I had my son Louie when I was 20, followed by my four daughters, all of whom were born prematurely. Two of my children have additional needs, which has made me a passionate advocate for children and families who need someone firmly in their corner.

In 2018, I lost my daughter Susie. That loss shaped so much of who I am, and also the way I support families now. I know what it feels like to be on the other side of the table, and I carry that understanding into everything I do at Lumina.

Life has taken me through all sorts of chapters — including living in Saudi Arabia, raising my family, sharing a love of music with Louie, keeping active at the gym, and eventually finding a career that genuinely makes me feel complete.

There’s a lot more to me than funeral directing… so here’s a little glimpse behind the scenes. ❤️

Being trusted to care for someone’s loved one is a privilege we never take lightly. Our aim is always to make an incredibly difficult time just that little bit easier, with compassion, honesty and those personal touches that make a funeral truly theirs.

Recent events have shaken public confidence in our profession, and understandably so.

At Lumina, we believe the future of funeral care should be built on **transparency, education and trust**.

For too long, our industry has been hidden behind closed doors. We believe families should feel comfortable asking questions, understanding how their loved one is cared for, and, if they wish, seeing the facilities where that care takes place.

Our doors have always been open, and they always will be.

We're also calling for meaningful government legislation that introduces clear, consistent standards across the funeral profession—protecting bereaved families while recognising the many funeral directors who provide compassionate, dignified care every single day.

Trust begins with transparency, and every family deserves both.

💙 Meet Poppy 💙

We’re so pleased to introduce the newest member of the Lumina Funerals family.

Poppy has joined us as our Apprentice, and from the very beginning she has shown exactly the kind of compassion, kindness and genuine care that means so much to the families we support.

When I asked Poppy why she wanted to work in funeral care, this is what she said:

“I wanted to do this because I wanted to make a genuine difference to people during one of the most difficult times of their lives. I find it incredibly rewarding to serve families with compassion and dignity during such an important time.

To me, it’s not just a job – it’s an opportunity to provide comfort and reassurance when people need it most.

Since starting, I’ve realised that everyone is different and everyone grieves in their own way – and that’s okay. I’ve learned to adapt to each person and understand what they need from me. Some people need a cuddle, others need a laugh, and both are okay. I feel incredibly privileged to be able to help people through that.”

I couldn’t have said it better myself.
