When Mark first arrived at Margaret House, settling hadn’t always come easily. He’d never quite found a place that truly felt like his before.
But things have changed.
Recently, Mark gave us a tour of his one-bedroom annex and the pride he has in his space was clear from the moment we walked in. Every detail has been thought about, every corner reflects him.
Mark used to have a real passion for photography and he also built up a beautiful collection of crystals over the years, something he’s still proud of. You can see little touches of his personality and interests throughout his space, making it feel completely his own.
Over the last three months, he’s taken his time decorating, making sure everything is just right especially with his daughter in mind.
Because for Mark, this isn’t just a home… it’s somewhere he can welcome family, spend time together and feel comfortable doing so.
What he loves most is the balance.
He has his own space to relax, unwind and enjoy his independence but whenever he wants company, it’s right there. Whether that’s chatting with others, joining in, or simply knowing support is close by.
Our team support him with trips into town when he needs it, helping him with shopping and getting out and about but just as importantly, he now has the confidence and freedom to visit his nieces and nephews too.
That sense of normality, of connection, of choosing how he spends his time… it matters.
And seeing someone not just settle, but truly take ownership of their space and their life again that’s what it’s all about.
