Hypnobirthing is beneficial for all births, home births, hospital births, drug free births, epidurals, caesareans, you name it!

In my sessions you'll definitely know that I'm not promising you a pain free birth! We talk about pain openly along with many different ways you might cope you with while understanding that you don't have to fear it.

Birth doesn't follow a plan, but you can certainly influence it and stack the odds in your favour by being prepared. We talk through how to have birth preferences for multiple scenarios and how to feel good about the decisions you make.

And there's nothing weird about learning about your nervous system, the physiology of birth and being given evidence based information.

I have limited 1-2-1 and group spaces left for September & October - DM me to find out more 📱✨

There are endless possibilities for this trend! It all comes down to number 5 for me...every woman deserves to feel supported in pregnancy, during their birth and postpartum.

But support isn't guaranteed. You have to find the people who will back you...a care team, a birth partner, a doula, a community who will listen when you speak up.

Advocating for yourself starts with knowing you might have to ask for what you need, more than once, and not assuming the system will hand it to you.

Did you know the third (and final) stage of labour is after the baby is born and you still have to birth the placenta?

It's definitely not thought about as much as birthing the baby.

All of the prep goes into labour and getting baby here but there's a whole stage that comes next, and it deserves just as much thought.

There are options when it comes to birthing your placenta. You can choose a physiological third stage (your body doing its thing) or a managed third stage (an injection of syntocinon).

Alongside and after birthing the placenta there are also other things to know about like optimal cord clamping; skin to skin: initiating breastfeeding; tearing; hemorrhages.

Learning about these things in pregnancy will help you and your birth partner when it comes to making decisions or advocating for your choices in the moment🤰🏻💛

Absolutely thrilled for my lovely client who got the home birth she so wanted for her second birth 😍

All the birth preparation in the world and even having a doula can't guarantee the outcome of your birth.

But you can certainly stack the odds in your favour and I love it when I hear that my clients have benefited from our work together...whether that's because they got the birth they wanted or it helped them navigate things when they didn't.

5 things you should be looking into if you're pregnant right now (that aren't hypnobirthing). I'll never not be telling you that hypnobirthing tools are incredible but it's not enough on its own to prepare for your birth. So here are a few other things to be looking into...

Head over to my website for more information on my autumn hypnobirthing group, 1-2-1 sessions and doula support.

The maternity system. Induction. Interventions. Your rights. Making decisions. There is so much to understand here.

With induction and caesarean rates being so high, it really is crucial to think about these things before you're faced with making decisions at 9 months pregnant or even in labour.

Learning about what the interventions involve as well as their risks can really help you make decisions that feel right for you. As well as understanding why they're offered so freely, knowing your rights and that ultimately it's always your decision.

Biomechanics of labour is understanding the dynamics of the pelvis and how it works with your baby during labour.

Freedom of movement when you're on labour isn't just a 'nice to have'. It's essential.

Restricted movement can restrict the progress of labour.

Choosing where to give birth should be more than picking your closest hospital.

First understanding how your environment can have an effect on labour, can help you explore your options and get you thinking about how you can adapt your environment to be more beneficial.

Your environment talks directly to your hormones. Dim lights, feeling safe and undisturbed are all things they will help your oxytocin thrive.

Bright lights, strangers and feeling watched are more than likely going to cause adrenaline to flow and interrupt the good hormones needed for birth.

Does your birth partner know how they can best support you? A great birth partner should be on board with your preferences, be involved in the birth prep, hold space for you and advocate for you if you can't advocate for yourself.

And sometimes that person isn't always your romantic partner. Maybe it's a friend, a relative, a

Let's talk about media consumption in pregnancy 👀

The media around maternity care is HEAVY right now, especially with the recent releases of the Ockenden and Amos reviews, among other headlines and people sharing their own views or stories.

It's even harder when it's all over your FYP and you don't know if the information is coming from a reliable source.

But you don't NEED to read everything you come across in order to be prepared for your birth. You can learn about navigating the maternity system and everything else without the doom scrolling.

If it's not serving you and stepping back will protect your mental space? That's absolutely fine!

And if these things don't affect you negatively and you want to read them, that's fine too 🤷🏼‍♀️

You've got to do what's best for you. Because what you're consuming around birth can impact you more than you realise.
