Although Serenity Counselling was a new venture for me, I have a vast amount of experience in counselling and supporting clients. For fifteen years I worked in the voluntary sector supporting clients who had been r***d, sexually abused (as an adult or child), in abusive relationships or bereaved through murder and manslaughter. I am a fully qualified therapist and am an Accredited Member of the BA
CP (British Association of Counsellors & Psychotherapists). Many people ask me how do you know if you need counselling? Well, there is no specific criteria for having counselling. If you are considering it, then maybe you have answered that question yourself already. Many people have counselling whether it is short term, long term or just having a safe space to share something and be heard. If there are times when you feel lost, unsatisfied or stressed in your life, counselling can bring clarity in a time of confusion and help you cope with anxiety or depression. You may be having difficulty dealing with recent circumstances, e.g. bereavement, redundancy, relationship breakdown or other changes in your life. or you may feel ready to talk about difficult past experiences or trauma. Counselling can help you identify where you want to be, what needs to change and how best to get there. I can provide you with a supportive, non judgmental and confidential environment in which together we can explore any emotional psychological or behavioural difficulties you maybe encountering. And this will help you to explore your own personal strengths and capabilities that are sometimes lost in times of confusion or anxiety.
