As Tim lays his top hat down after a very busy and emotionally challenging week, we find ourselves reflecting on how honoured we are as a family to hold the position we do within the community, and the many positive comments we have received regarding our services.

Supporting people through life’s hardest of moments is a real honour, and we never take for granted just how privileged we are to be in that position.

We keep in our thoughts all of those we have had the honour of caring for, and those we continue to care for.

As we prepare to take Todd on his final journey today, we would like to make members of the public aware that between approximately 1:00pm and 2:00pm there may be heavy traffic and some delays as Todd’s cortège makes its way to the crematorium.

Alongside the funeral vehicles, there will be a considerable number of cars and motorbikes following behind to show their love, respect and support for Todd, his parents and his family.

We have marked our route with pink and blue ribbons, so if you see these along the roads, please be aware that you may come across Todd’s cortège during this time.

We kindly ask everyone travelling along the route to please be patient, allow the cortège and those following to pass safely, and give us the time and space needed to make Todd’s final journey so special.

Today is an incredibly difficult day for Todd’s family, friends and everyone who loves him.If you see us, please be patient, slow down and, where appropriate, give Todd the respect he deserves as he makes his final journey to Bretby crematorium.

The scaffold is up and work is ready to begin as the upper exterior of our building undergoes a total refresh. The building is going back to brick before re-rendering, painting and fitting all new windows. We look forward to seeing the finished result in a few weeks’ time.

Please note that our funeral home remains fully accessible at all times via the usual front entrance.

It made us wonder, when it comes to saying goodbye, would you choose something traditional, something themed, or a colour that has a special meaning to you or your family?

Sunday well spent. Being a family business means that some Sundays can look a little different.

Today, we spent a few hours in our garage, polishing and preparing our fleet ready for the week ahead. A detail most people don’t see, but one we take so much pride in.

For us, it’s never just about keeping the cars looking their best. These vehicles are part of the service we provide to our local community, and when they arrive for a family, we want everything to be perfect, immaculate and treated with the respect that every journey deserves.

Our first service today saw us swap top hats for motorbike helmets as we honoured the life of a much loved biker. Having had a Triumph Bonneville, among many others, it was only right his final ride would be on one too.

One final rev up once we arrived at the crematorium, at the request of the family, something that brought a smile to many. His wife stated ‘he’d been revving bikes for years, we couldn’t say no to that’

May he ride free and in peace.

This was more than just a hat, rarely seen without it this became part of who this gentleman was. It was only right this traveled with him on his final journey, gently placed at the head end of his coffin. A meaningful touch that all those in attendance could relate to, while paying respects and remembering a life well lived.

Did you know that Tim, our funeral director, always wears a buttonhole that matches the chosen coffin tribute for all traditional funerals?

It’s a small gesture, but one that creates a connection between him and the person he is honoured to lead on their final journey.

At the end of the service, once the main tribute has been removed from the coffin or the mourners have left, Tim returns to place a single matching flower where the tribute had been. That flower remains with your loved one as they are laid to rest or cremated. A final, personal tribute that reflects the care and respect shown throughout their journey.

It’s an in house tradition Tim has been doing for years, and one that means a great deal to us. We believe it’s often the smallest gestures that leave the most lasting impression.
