The "Second Chance Stroke Club" was started by stroke survivors who want to improve there well being.

we have our own physiotherapist, organise cognitive activities as well as speakers, entertainment and outings every Tuesday morning. Donate funds to help the club here:

Hi all! Does anyone have any spare wheelchairs that the club could have please? We had a fire alarm practice last week and it would have gone better if some of our members had access to wheels! Thank you in advance

Today we said our final goodbye to Becca, our American physio. Bon voyage and thanks for everything. A new chapter awaits in Colorado with baby number 3!

Today we said goodbye to Becca our resident physiotherapist who returns to the States with her air force husband and family.

Becca has been a guiding hand and inspiration to all at the club during her tenure with us.

We wish her (and family) well on their return home, and with that goes heartfelt thanks for all her help during her time with us.

Visit from West Suffolk Council

We were delighted to welcome representatives from West Suffolk Council on Tuesday: Jon Eaton — Families and Communities Officer (WSC), Victor Luckaniuk — Deputy Council Leader, Donna Higgins — Councillor, and Margaret Marks — Councillor. Their visit gave them a close-up view of the Support Group’s work and the difference it makes to stroke survivors in our community.

During their time with us they observed our physiotherapist leading a session, took part in the cognitive activities our members enjoy each week, and joined heartfelt conversations with several survivors. These discussions helped the visitors understand the everyday physical, emotional, and practical challenges stroke survivors face, and the ways our programmes support recovery, independence, and social connection.

We are extremely grateful for the ongoing support of grant-makers such as the West Suffolk Communities Fund. Without this funding we could not sustain the full range of services we offer long term, and we sincerely appreciate the council’s interest and commitment to helping us continue this vital work.

More Good News for Second Chance Stroke Support Group

We are delighted to announce that SUFFOLK COMMUNITY FOUNDATION, a long‑standing supporter of local stroke services, has awarded Second Chance Stroke Support Group a grant of £3,000 through SUFFOLK GIVING. This generous award is specifically designated to support our regular transport service for members who require specialist wheelchair taxi transport to attend our weekly support and physiotherapy sessions each Tuesday.

This grant makes a real difference. Our specialist transport costs amount to just over £9,000 per year, and the £3,000 award covers around one third of those annual transport expenses. That contribution will help ensure that members with limited mobility can continue to join the group in person, maintain social connections, access peer support, and benefit from the activities and therapies we provide.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to SUFFOLK COMMUNITY FOUNDATION and everyone involved with SUFFOLK GIVING for their ongoing commitment to stroke survivors in our community. Their support helps keep our doors—and our wheels—moving.
