✨ You are more than one thing. ✨

One of the biggest things I encourage clients to build is a diverse identity. ❤️
When we place all of our self-worth into one area of life, we become incredibly vulnerable if that area changes.

💔 "I'm only okay if my relationship is okay."
💼 "My job is who I am."
🏃 "If I can't exercise, I don't know who I am anymore."
👩‍👧 "Being a parent is my entire identity."
💰 "My value comes from how much I earn."
💪 "If my body changes, I lose who I am."
🏡 "Owning a home is what makes me successful."
🤝 "If people don't need me, I don't know my purpose."
❤️ "Looking after everyone else is who I am."

Life changes. Relationships end. Jobs change. Health changes. Children grow up. Retirement comes. Bodies age. Plans don't always go the way we hoped.

If our whole identity is tied to just one thing, it can feel like we've lost ourselves.

Instead, try asking yourself:
🌱 Who am I outside of work?
🌱 What lights me up?
🌱 What values matter to me?
🌱 What hobbies make me lose track of time?
🌱 What qualities do I admire in myself?
🌱 What makes me feel calm or alive?
🌱 Who am I when nobody is watching?
🌱 What do I enjoy simply because it brings me joy?

Maybe you're...
🤍 A loyal friend. 🐾 A dog or cat lover. 📚 A reader. 🎨 Creative. 🎵 A music lover. ☕ Someone who loves cosy coffee shops. 🌿 Someone who feels at peace in nature. 🎮 A gamer. ✈️ An explorer. 🏃 Someone who enjoys movement. 🍳 Someone who loves cooking or baking. 🌸 A gardener. 📸 A photographer. 😂 The person who makes others laugh. 🎤 A singer. 💃 Someone who loves to dance. 🧩 Curious and always learning. 💛 Kind. 🌈 Resilient. 🫶 Compassionate. ✨ Spiritual. 🌊 Someone who loves the sea. 📝 A journal writer. 🎭 Someone with a great sense of humour.

None of these things define you on their own.

Together, they create a life that is harder to knock down. ✨

You are allowed to be many things.
And that's often where resilience begins. 💛

Find yourself saying any of these? ⬇️💕

"I'm fine."
"It's fine."
"It is what it is."
"I just get on with it."

Mhmmm... are you okay, or have you just become really good at convincing yourself you are? 👀❤️

For so many people, this isn't acceptance...

It's survival. ❤️

It's minimising.
It's suppressing.
It's carrying on because that's what you've always done.

So... quick check-in:

🤍 How many emotions have you pushed aside this week?

🤍 Are you in a job you actually enjoy, or are you just counting down to Friday?

🤍 Are your relationships meeting your needs too, or are you constantly working around everyone else's? Working on their timeline and waiting for them?

🤍 How many times have you said, "It's not a big deal," when actually... it kind of was?

🤍are you saying yes because you actually want to?

Here's the thing...

Your emotions don't disappear just because you ignore them. ⬅️⬅️⬅️⬅️

Your body and nervous system are still keeping track.

Sometimes that looks like anxiety, exhaustion, emotional numbness, tension, irritability, or feeling completely disconnected from yourself.

Healing isn't about crying more.

It's about being honest with yourself.

Maybe the real question isn't...

"Why am I so tired?"

Maybe it's...

"What have I been pretending doesn't affect me?" 🤍

Thinking about starting therapy? ✨❤️

I'm Jay 👋 - a counsellor based in Kentford near Newmarket.

Starting therapy can feel so scary - I will do what I can to make you feel comfortable. My space is safe, cosy (and with Aircon!❄️) We take things at your pace and I know there is not a one-size fits all approach so I tailor my sessions to suit your needs ❤️

My office has blankets, coffee, cold drinks + sometimes you will meet Kenneth the Labrador if you are an animal lover 🐕🐾

A bit about me and the type of work I do for those who are new to my page -

🤎Chronic illnesses and disability - I work heavily with clients with endometriosis, MS, FND, ME, fibromyalgia and long term conditions
🌟Self esteem, anxiety, confidence, relationship issues
✨People pleasing and boundaries
🐕Animal lovers - pets - big or small have such a huge special place in our hearts - we never minimise the pain or losing our fur friends in here, no matter how small ❤️
🚧Burnout and work stress
💰Gambling addiction - those who are affected by gambling or struggle with a gambling addiction
🗣️In a job that you can't show vulnerability or struggle to speak out? This is your safe space ❤️
🌈 LGBTQ+ affirming – Everyone is welcome here. My therapy room is a safe, inclusive space where you can be yourself without judgement. ❤️

Kenneth may be making an appearance on these warmer days in the office!

With the crazy high temperatures in the UK this week just a reminder my office has Aircon ❄️🧊

But that might mean a few more visits from Kenneth the friendly Labrador so he can stay cool whilst I'm working away in the office ✨🥰

Expect some kisses and cuddles. ☀️

Ps. I always check with clients before if they are ok with Kenneth being in the therapy room beforehand ❤️

Lets talk about WEDDINGS in the therapy room✨💒👰

Trust me, no one talks about it enough, but wedding fears and drama are VERY real. 😫

Last week I was a bridesmaid for one of my oldest friends and it was beautiful, emotional, joyful and what a beautiful day it was for my amazing friends 🤍

and if you're sitting there thinking my wedding wasnt perfect this is a reminder to my clients that weddings can bring up a lot ❤️

The pressure to have the perfect day.
Family dynamics.
Friendship worries.
Money stress.
Trying to include everyone you love.
Anxiety about speeches.
Fear of walking down the aisle.
Unexpected drama.

As a counsellor, I've sat with people navigating all of these things 🤍

The truth is, weddings don't magically make us calm, confident or emotionally sorted. They often amplify whatever is already there.
And that's okay.

You can be over the moon and overwhelmed.
Excited and terrified. ✨
You can be grieving for someone who isn't there while celebrating someone you love. ✨

All of these emotions can exist together. ❤️

So if you're planning a wedding or recovering from one and feeling all the things... trust me, you're not the only one.

If you are attending a loved one's wedding soon what a privilege! Years from now, the bride and groom probably won't remember whether everything ran on time or if every detail was perfect...

They'll remember how they felt on their most special day 🥰❤️

And they'll remember the people who made them feel loved.

💐🤍🍾

⚽🤍World cup 2026 ⚽🤍

I grew up in a football household. 🤍

Some of my most fav memories are wrapped up in football – family around the TV, the tension before kick-off, cheering, celebrating and the feeling that for a few weeks everyone was united in hope especially over the world cup. 🥰

I still get excited now. In fact, as I write this, I'm already convincing myself for 10 secs England are going to win it all 😂 (Hoping for the best as always)

But I also know that this time of year isn't joyful for everyone. 😔

While many of us are making memories, others may be feeling lonely, anxious or overwhelmed 🤍

For some, alcohol and drug use in the home increases.

Clients with gambling addiction struggle.

For others, tensions rise and home doesn't feel like the safe place it should be.

The media divides us and we see the worst of the English supporters.

So this is your gentle reminder:

Enjoy the football.
Look after yourself.
Check in on your friends.
Celebrate loudly if you want to.

But please let's make sure the excitement never comes at the expense of kindness, safety or each other.

Because the best memories are the ones where everyone gets to feel safe enough to make them.

❤️⚽

💗🌈 Pride Month 🌈💗

This month, and every month, my counselling space remains a place where you are welcome exactly as you are.

To my LGBTQ+ clients 🌈— thank you for trusting me with your stories, identities, fears, relationships, grief, joy, questioning, healing, and becoming. It is a privilege to sit alongside you always 💗

Pride is not just celebration...

For many, it also holds:
✨ unlearning shame
✨ navigating family dynamics
✨ masking and exhaustion
✨ fear of rejection
✨ identity exploration
✨ late self-discovery
✨ learning to take up space safely

You do not have to shrink yourself to be accepted here. ❤️❤️❤️

…you deserve support that feels safe, affirming, warm and human and I hope you feel that in this space.

Happy Pride Month to my beautiful LGBTQ+ clients and community 🫶🌈

Can we normalise the fact that summer is not automatically a happy season for everyone?

Because whilst everyone else is outside living their best life, some people are
• overheating
• flaring up
• spiralling about our body image and with love island on our screens every summer too 😞🏝️
• socially drained
• exhausted 24/7
• feeling guilty for cancelling plans
• comparing ourselves to every girl on Instagram
• mums trying to do it all and comparing themselves to others whilst trying to hold it together and keep the kiddos busy 🤍

Summer can feel SO loud 📢📢

More plans.
More pressure.
More people.
More expectations to be fun, hot, productive and out doing something every second of the day.

Meanwhile your body/mind is just trying to survive the heat and drink enough water 😭

Reminder: 🤍
🤍you do not need to have a “good summer body” to deserve a good summer
🤍 staying home doesn’t make you boring
🤍 rest is not laziness
🤍 soft little routines count as a life
🤍 your version of summer is allowed to look different

Maybe your ideal summer is:
iced lattes , cosy gaming/books/comfort shows evening walks, in the garden in oversize PJ's

Romanticising surviving, not thriving 🔥🔥

PS: my office has air con and a fridge for your iced coffees/drinks because this weather is not therapy friendly 😭☀️🤍

Also currently fully booked until July for new clients — thank you all so much for keeping me so busy ☀️

✨🌺A little price increase for for new clients✨🌺

Face to face sessions £70 (£5 increase)
Remote sessions £60 (£5 increase)

I can't offer concession rates at this time as my limited slots are filled and I am on reduced hours for summer. ☀️

This will not affect my existing clients at this time. Or people who have already set dates for sessions agreed on the old pricing 🤍

I am currently fully booked at the moment but will have some availability from June/early july!
