Today was the final session of our 7 week Connect, Learn, Grow programme.

We had perfect weather for a final celebratory session focussed on nature connection, mindfulness and forest bathing, followed by tea and cake in the cafe. We shared some parting gifts, a mint tea plant, and bookmark.

We got formal feedback and outcome measures from everyone attending and will be reporting more formally on that soon. But nothing beats the informal verbal feedback and warmth the group showed for each other.

Everyone commented on how isolated they felt prior to the programme, and how helpful it was to have some education and shared experiences with others, realising they all felt and experienced the same things, despite having differing neurological conditions.

The accessibility of the programme was also really valued, not just from a mobility point of view, but the adaptations for cognitive and communication disorders meant everyone felt welcomed and had space to think, to speak, and never felt rushed.

We are beyond happy that so much value was taken from our first programme of this kind. A lesson in running with an idea and seeing where it goes. Fingers crossed we can keep this going into the future. ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿง ๐ŸŒณ

One of the attendees at today's group made these knotted key rings for everybody. He creates these to help with his fine motor skills following a stroke, and wanted everyone to have a momento to remember the group by.

Absolutely perfect sentiment for today's topic of relationships and connection, and really reaffirmed for us why we set this programme up. ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š

Final session in 2 weeks time and thinking about how we keep things going.

After a period of burnout, I realised that nature knows what you need, and is always ready to offer it โ€“ you just have to be quiet enough to receive it

Well isn't this just absolutely wonderful?!!?

Having worked into acute Stroke and NeuroRehab wards, we've often wondered how it feels to spends weeks or months without seeing the sky or feeling a breeze on your skin.

Amazing to see initiatives like this one becoming more common in hospital settings ๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿง

Today was session 4 of our Learn, Connect, Grow programme, marking halfway through this funded project already!!

The session focussed on fatigue management, with every person attending experiencing this often invisible but debilitating symptom.

While we provide workbooks with lots of education and advice around fatigue management, the peer support and shared stories are what it's all about for us. It is just lovely to see everyone opening up and supporting each other.

A little nature energy restoration exercise and of course brews and cake! All added up to quite the successful session today. ๐Ÿง ๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿ’š

Yesterday marked our first Learn, Connect and Grow session, and like any new initiative, it wasn't without it's teething problems!

Finding a space that is accessible, welcoming, and offers meaningful access to nature proved far more challenging than it should be. Itโ€™s been a real eye opener, highlighting some of the very barriers our clients face when trying to connect with the natural world.

Despite this, we were joined by a wonderful group of people who met those challenges with openness and resilience. It was inspiring to already see early connections forming, both with nature and with each other.

With six more sessions to go in this pilot nature and psychoeducation project, weโ€™re excited to continue learning and growing alongside our participants, and we look forward to sharing our insights and outcomes in the near future.

We've had a fantastic evening with Bury VCFA at their networking and funding event.

We were delighted to receive a ยฃ70 prize towards our everyday running costs, a helpful boost that supports the work we do. But even more valuable were the conversations we had with fellow local non-profit organisations who are all making a real difference in our community.

Itโ€™s always inspiring to connect with others who share a commitment to positive change in our town. Looking forward to building on these new connections and continuing to support one another.

The lovely James has written another blog post for our website. This time he is reflecting on the impact of Spring on his connection with nature and mood, bringing nature indoors, birdwatching, and noticing nature in built up urban environments.

What a beautiful day today for our recce of the route we'll be taking with CB Fitness and their ABI walking group on Monday.

Really looking forward to providing some moments of nature connection on the walk at Burrs Country Park, Bury, including our favourite spot for group sessions under this lovely tree ๐ŸŒณ ๐Ÿ’š

Fingers crossed this weather holds! โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿ˜Š
