Introducing Matt Barton to Tideswell

We’re delighted to introduce Matt, who will be working alongside Georgina.

Over the past year, Matt has had the pleasure of working alongside Alan, getting to know him and benefiting from his many years of experience caring for local families.

Matt has been part of the team at Jepson’s for the past six and a half years, and during that time he has trained and qualified as a Funeral Director with us.

He’s really looking forward to becoming part of the Tideswell community, getting to know local families and being there to offer care, guidance and support whenever it is needed.

And while Alan has retired, we’re sure that if Matt ever needs his advice, Alan will never be too far away and will always be at the end of the phone.

Please join us in giving Matt a very warm welcome to Tideswell.

On Sunday evening, we had the privilege of coming together at St Thomas Becket Church for a very special service of thanks for Alan and Sally Tideswell, as they prepare to retire at the end of August.

Hosted by Rev Mel Hartley, the service was a wonderful opportunity to recognise and celebrate everything Alan and Sally have given over so many years — not only through the funeral business, but through their ministry, their involvement in the community and the many people and families whose lives they have touched along the way.

One of the moments that really stayed with us was hearing Alan and Sally reflect on just how far their impact has reached over the years:

“We didn’t realise quite how much of an impact we had made on so many people, and how many lives we had touched through everything we have been involved in.”

Their words really summed up what Sunday evening was all about. Seeing so many people come together to celebrate Alan and Sally was a wonderful reminder of just how much they mean to so many.

For us, as the Jepson family, it was also incredibly special to be introduced and welcomed as the family who will be carrying on the funeral business Alan and Sally have worked so hard to establish.

We were also delighted to introduce Matt Barton, our new Funeral Director, who will be working alongside Georgina as we take the business forward. Matt is a fantastic addition to the team, and we’re looking forward to properly introducing him and sharing more about him next week.

We know we are taking on far more than simply a business. We are being entrusted with a reputation, relationships and values that have been built over many years, and we feel incredibly proud to have the opportunity to continue that legacy.

Thank you to Rev Mel Hartley and everyone at St Thomas Becket Church for making the service so special, and to everyone who joined us afterwards.

Most importantly, thank you, Alan and Sally, for everything you have done, for everything you have given to the families and community you have served, and for the trust you have placed in us to carry it forward.

It was a very special evening and one we will remember for a long time. ❤️

Wishing Alan and Sally every happiness in their retirement.

A New Chapter for L.D. & A. Tideswell

Almost a year ago, Alan and Sally shared the news that, after many years of dedicated service to the community, they had made the decision to place L.D. & A. Tideswell into the care of the Jepson family.

Over the past year, Alan and Sally have worked alongside us throughout the transition, helping to ensure that the values, personal service and familiar way of doing things that have always been at the heart of L.D. & A. Tideswell continue into the future.

As they prepare to finish at the end of this month and begin a well-earned new chapter together, we are delighted to share some more family news.

Alan and Sally’s daughter, Georgina, has joined L.D. & A. Tideswell as our Office Administrator.

Georgina will be based at Alan and Sally’s home, providing local administrative support and continuing that important family connection.

Having grown up with the business and knowing just how much it has meant to her parents and to the families they have cared for over the years, Georgina is looking forward to supporting the Jepson family as they take L.D. & A. Tideswell into its next chapter.

Most importantly, the values that Alan and Sally built the business upon remain unchanged: providing local families with compassion, dignity, respect and personal care when they need it most.

Georgina is looking forward to meeting many of you this Sunday, 23rd August, at the service at St Thomas Becket Church at 6pm when we come together for a final farewell to Alan and Sally.

We hope you will join us in giving Georgina a very warm welcome to L.D & A Tideswell, Georgina is looking forward to becoming a familiar face to you all.

Join us at St Thomas Becket Church on 23rd August at 6pm.

As many of us know that Alan and Sally Tideswell are retiring at the end of August I know their ministry has been so important to so many people over the years, so I couldn't let them go without saying a proper thank you.

So, on the 23rd August at 6 pm, we'll be holding a special service of thanks for Alan and Sally and an introduction to the new Jepson family who will be carrying on their well established funeral business.

There will be tea, coffee, and cake after the service in the Becket Room in Church and drinks after at The Old Pack Horse.
