🌿 Meet the Celebrant – Pete Edson

At Calverton & District Funeral Service, we believe every funeral should be as individual as the person whose life we are celebrating.

Today, we’d like you to meet Pete Edson, one of our trusted Funeral Celebrants, and his wife Sue, who works alongside him.

Pete entered the funeral profession over 20 years ago after a career as a process engraver in the printing industry. Since then, he has gained experience across almost every aspect of funeral service, including working as a hearse and limousine driver and caring for loved ones in the funeral home.

Pete later worked at Bramcote Crematorium, where he became Senior Technician.

His journey to becoming a Celebrant happened “purely by accident” when he was asked to conduct the funeral of a close friend’s husband. The service went well, and Pete quickly discovered how much he enjoyed helping families create personal and meaningful farewells.

Today, Pete takes the time to listen to families, hear their stories and memories, and create a service that genuinely reflects the person who has died.

Pete and Sue are very much a team. ❤️ Sue helps with meetings, taking notes and gathering the details Pete needs to prepare a personal eulogy. She also admits that she is very good at “reigning Pete in as he can talk a lot!” 😊

Together, they understand how difficult losing someone can be, having experienced loss within their own family.

For Pete and Sue, a funeral isn’t simply a service, it’s a celebration of a life.

Meet the Celebrant – Lynne Davis 🌿

We’re delighted to introduce you to Lynne Davis, one of our Independent Funeral Celebrants here at Calverton & District Funeral Service Limited.

Lynne grew up in Calverton and attended school locally before spending 20 years working in the community pharmacy. Working so closely with patients, families and healthcare professionals gave Lynne the confidence to take the next step in 2024 and train as an Independent Funeral Celebrant. She is registered with the Academy of Professional Celebrants.

Lynne says:

“It’s always a privilege meeting with families to hear the stories of their loved one. Every person deserves a beautiful, memorable send-off. Together we will create a loving tribute and I will deliver the service with warmth, care and authenticity.”

We can wholeheartedly say that working alongside Lynne is an absolute pleasure. Her genuine warmth, kindness and compassion shine through in everything she does. The families we have had the privilege of supporting alongside Lynne have consistently found her to be warm, caring, compassionate and a wonderful source of support during an incredibly difficult time.

Lynne takes the time to listen, understand what makes each person special and ensure that their service truly reflects the life they lived.

We’re very proud to have Lynne as part of our team and know that she will continue to provide families with the care, understanding and personal touch they deserve. 🌹

🕊️ A Final Farewell to Andy Robb 🤍

It was a true privilege and honour to have been entrusted with arranging the funeral service for the late Andy Robb. 🌿

Andy’s family and friends came together to celebrate his life with a heartfelt and memorable service, beautifully conducted by celebrant Lynne Davis. 🕯️

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 As Andy made his final journey, bagpiper James Stewart walked ahead of the hearse, filling the air with the unmistakable sound of the pipes.

🎶 It was an incredibly moving and dignified tribute, creating a poignant moment for Andy’s family and everyone gathered to pay their respects.

🤍 We would like to express our sincere thanks to Andy’s daughters, Linda, Alex and Karon, for placing their trust in Calverton & District Funeral Service during such a difficult time. 🙏

It has been our privilege to support your family and to help ensure Andy received a personal and respectful farewell that truly honoured his life. 🌿

Everyone at Calverton & District Funeral Service was honoured to support the family of Rex, aged 94, as they came together to celebrate his long, well-lived life. ❤️

Rex's funeral service took place at Gedling Crematorium, where family and friends gathered to pay their respects, share treasured memories, and celebrate the legacy he leaves behind. 🌹

The service was beautifully led by Angela, with Funeral Director Craig overseeing the arrangements and ensuring every detail was carried out with dignity and care.

A proud member of the local farming community, it was only fitting that Rex's final journey reflected the life he loved so dearly.

🚜 In a truly moving tribute, he made his final journey from our Chapel of Rest on a tractor and trailer, an unforgettable farewell that honoured his lifelong connection to farming and the countryside. 🌾

It was a privilege to help create such a personal and meaningful tribute.

Today, our Funeral Director, Simon, had the privilege of conducting a private graveside service at Redhill Cemetery, honouring the wishes of a gentleman who wanted his final farewell to be simple, peaceful and surrounded only by those closest to him.

In the quiet of the cemetery, family and close friends came together to share memories, reflect on a life well lived, and say their final goodbyes in an intimate setting filled with love and respect. 🤍

Every person is unique, and every farewell should reflect that.

Whether it's a traditional funeral, a graveside service, or something entirely personal, we are honoured to help families create a service that truly celebrates the life of their loved one 🕊️
