It’s less than one week to go until Awenek! The Great Cornish Heritage Festival. Are you coming?
Taking place Enys Gardens in Penryn on Saturday 12th September, this family-friendly celebration of Cornwall’s heritage brings together fascinating demonstrations, live performances, traditional skills, stories and activities for all ages. We can’t wait to see many of you there!
Kids go free, and early bird adult tickets start from £7.50.
Early bird saver ticket sales close at 12noon this Friday 11th September – don’t miss out!
Throughout the day, watch Cornish heritage come to life. See Cornish wrestling, living history and weapons displays, prehistoric crafts and flint knapping, traditional blacksmithing, weaving, pottery, woodturning and stone carving. Discover how people lived and worked in Cornwall through historic artefacts, mining displays, archaeology, storytelling and exhibitions with experts and craftspeople on hand to share their knowledge and answer your questions.
There’s plenty for families to enjoy too, with children’s trail activities, games, storytelling, puppetry, creative workshops and hands-on experiences, as well as opportunities to meet the people keeping Cornwall’s traditions alive today.
There will also be food and drink available to purchase throughout the day, including Cornish pasties, scotch eggs, cakes, coffee and ice cream!
A small number of spaces are also available on selected paid workshops, giving you the chance to learn a traditional skill for yourself.
Whether you’re passionate about Cornwall’s history or simply looking for a brilliant day out with the family, Awenek! is a chance to see, hear and experience the heritage of Cornwall in one place.
Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome.
