Update re Newton Road, Troon hole

Cornwall Council has advised that parking charges at Fairground Car Park will begin on Monday 29th June 2026, with payment machines due to be installed next week.

Helston Town Council is sharing this information so residents and visitors are aware of the changes.

The introduction of charges is a Cornwall Council decision and was not supported by Helston Town Council. The Town Council formally objected to the proposal during the consultation process and raised concerns about the impact on residents, visitors, community wellbeing and the local economy.

Local Cornwall Councillors worked together to challenge the proposal and will continue to seek a review of the arrangements ahead of the next parking order in Spring 2027.

Residents are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the new parking charges:

09:00 - 16:00:

Up to 1 hour - No Charge
1 to 2 hours - £1.80
2 to 4 hours - £3.00
24 hours - £4.20
Weekly - £10.20

Mebyon Kernow Town Councillors for Camborne Town Council attended the demonstration in Troon on Saturday.
The road closure is causing major disruption to residents and Cornwall Council must deal with this issue as a priority.

It is disappointing that the Cornwall Councillor for Four Lanes, Beacon & Troon continues to be absent, when he should be supporting Troon residents.
Town Councillors Reece Weatherburn and Ian Vivian-Villacci however, will be speaking up for the village and keeping residents updated with any developments on this situation.
