GLP1 medications are being talked about everywhere at the minute and it’s dividing medical practitioners. The problem is we only hear the negative stories. The people taking them to lose extreme amounts of weight, the weight gain on stopping, the expense, the side effects. But when they are used by experienced practitioners they can be life changing. They can be used at low doses, they can be stopped or reduced, they don’t need to cause nausea. We take huge pride in supporting our patients alongside the medications. We don’t follow a protocol. We listen to what you need. We don’t aim for BMIs. We aim for people becoming healthy and strong. We provide nutritional, psychological and physical support. We can support you if you get your medication elsewhere and we can provide prescriptions through our partner . We can support you coming off them. We can help you do it properly. Maybe you are looking at needing surgery, fertility treatment, recovering from cancer. We can provide you the extra support needed when your health is complex. We are focused on health not weight. Book in for a chat.

Men’s Health Week is a timely reminder that we still have work to do.

Around half of men experience mental health challenges during their lifetime, yet fewer than half seek professional support. Men are also more likely to have lower health literacy, less likely to engage with preventative healthcare, and, on average, die younger than women.

We see these realities reflected in our own services.

Despite obesity and long-term health conditions affecting men and women alike, only around one-third of those seeking support for weight management are men. Too often, men present later, when problems have become more established and harder to address.

There are encouraging signs of change. We are seeing increasing numbers of men attending Men’s MOT health checks through Cambridge Private Doctors, engaging with our holistic mental health services, and joining our walking clinics. These are positive steps towards normalising conversations about health and wellbeing.

But Men’s Health Week should prompt us to ask an important question:

How do we make it easier for men to prioritise their health?

As healthcare professionals and service providers, the responsibility does not sit solely with individuals. We need to continue breaking down barriers, challenging stigma, improving health literacy, and taking services to where men are—whether that is in workplaces, community settings, sports clubs, or through innovative models of care.

Creating accessible, practical, and relatable opportunities for men to engage with their health is essential if we are to improve outcomes.

This Men’s Health Week, let's continue the conversation—and more importantly, continue creating services that work for the men who need them.

As a service provider what approaches have you found helpful to engage men?

As a man how can we help you to prioritise your health?

What an awesome follow up session with the 2026 Women in Leadership cohort with .resourcingsolutions . We explored lifestyle medicine through the lens of female health and encouraged participants to take care of their health as they would their business. Prioritise. Expect more. Talk to others. Be empowered. The evening never fails to inspire with delegates sitting next to their mentors and sharing their stories. We love being a part of those stories and would recommend any businesses looking to support women to think about sponsoring them to attend in 2027. These women will go far! Thank you as ever for the invite!
