After 23 years living abroad, the thing I've learned that surprises people most is this:
Adapting to a new country is often easier than settling internally.
You can build a life somewhere. Build routines, friendships, a sense of normal. And still feel, quietly, like something in you hasn't quite caught up.
I wrote about this today — the real story behind my work with expat women, and how I got here. Not the polished version. The one that starts with long hospital stays as a child and ends with finally understanding what I had been doing with creativity my whole life.
If you work with, know, or are an expat woman who has ever felt grateful and emotionally unsettled at the same time — this is for you.
How living abroad, creativity, and personal healing led me to therapeutic art. The story behind Healing Art Journey and supporting expat women.
