Alconbury and Brampton Surgeries As your GP Practice we pride ourselves in the provision of a high standard of patient-centred healthcare.

We have a committed and conscientious team who do their best each day to deliver care that meets our patients needs. Alconbury & Brampton Surgeries is a 2 Surgery, 4 Partner GP Practice with a Practice Area encompassing Alconbury, Brampton and the surrounding villages. We have a team of 12 permanent GPs and as a training Practice we are allocated GP Registrars for up to 18 months. We also regularl

y host Cambridge University Medical Students. We have a clinical team of Nurses, Healthcare Assistants, Phlebotomists and Dispensers supported by our Reception, Admin and Secretarial teams. We also work closely with the A1 PCN to involve our nominated Physiotherapist, Paramedics, Clinical Pharmacist, Pharmacy Technician, Social Prescriber, care Co-ordinator and Health & Well-being Coaches in meeting the needs of our patients.

With the Bank Holiday approaching, it's important to know how to access NHS services if you need help over the long weekend. 💙

Many GP practices will be closed on Bank Holiday days, but there are still a range of NHS services available if you need medical advice, treatment or urgent care. 🏥

✅ Use NHS 111 online for medical advice and support
✅ Call 111 if you need urgent medical help but it's not an emergency
✅ Visit your local pharmacy for advice on common illnesses and minor injuries
✅ Use NHS online services to manage prescriptions and access health information
✅ Call 999 or attend A&E for life-threatening emergencies only

If you take regular medication, remember to order any repeat prescriptions in plenty of time before the Bank Holiday to avoid running out. 💊

Planning ahead can help you enjoy the long weekend and ensure you know where to turn if you need healthcare support. ☀️

Alconbury Dispensary - Important Update for Our Patients

As many of you will be aware, the short notice closure of Alconbury Chemist means that we have welcomed a large number of patients back to our dispensing service. This has inevitably resulted in a significant increase in the volume of work being processed by our Dispensary team.

We have been working incredibly hard to manage this increased workload while continuing to provide a safe and efficient service for all our patients. We kindly ask that patients allow 5 working days for repeat prescription requests to be processed.

We are pleased to share that we have a plan in place, with a new Dispenser joining our team imminently, which will help us increase capacity with a return to our usual turnaround time of 3 working days.

In the meantime, we would like to thank our patients for their understanding and patience. Please remember that our staff are doing their very best during this challenging period. A little kindness goes a long way, and your support is greatly appreciated as we navigate this sudden increase in demand.

We have a vacancy at our new Glade Surgery based at Alconbury Surgery.

3 mornings a week, 8am-1pm, Monday, Tuesday & Friday.

Additional hours will be available to cover leave and support with additional services.

Have you been invited for an Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) screening? It’s important to attend 💙

AAA screening is offered to men in England during the year they turn 65. The screening test looks for a swelling (aneurysm) in the aorta, the main blood vessel that carries blood from your heart to the rest of your body 🩺

An abdominal aortic aneurysm often causes no symptoms, which means many people don't know they have one. If an aneurysm grows and bursts, it can be life-threatening, which is why early detection is so important ⚠️

The screening itself is quick, painless and similar to an ultrasound scan. Most appointments take less than 10 minutes and can provide reassurance or help identify any problems early 👍

You'll usually only need to be screened once, unless an aneurysm is found and requires monitoring 👨‍⚕️

If you've received an invitation, don't ignore it. Attending your appointment could save your life 💙

We have TWO vacancies with an opportunity to join our friendly receptionist team at Alconbury Surgery.

The shifts we need to cover are mornings 07.45-1pm and afternoons 1-6.30pm.
25-30 hours a week.

We are happy to consider a combination of hours depending on the successful applicants availability including a job share if this is achievable in a way that meets the Practices needs.

21.08.26 Urgent patient Notice.

Our Clinical system at Alconbury Surgery is currently down; this seems to be affecting several surgeries. IT are working to get this resolved. This means our staff can not currently access medical records.

Please attend appointments as normal, but be patient with all our staff as they do their best to assist you.

Please do NOT call or come to the surgery with a query until the issue is resolved. Only call if you have a clinically urgent need for an appointment today.
