A few weeks ago we shared that we’d completed our new regulation through movement programme for schools.

Since then, we’ve been busy refining, reviewing and further developing the resource behind the scenes 👀

Move to Regulate™ has been created by HCPC & CORU registered paediatric occupational therapists to support participation, regulation and access to learning through movement.

Designed for schools, preschools and early years settings, the programme focuses on practical strategies that can be embedded into everyday routines without adding to staff workload.

We’re incredibly excited about the potential of this resource and we’ve already had the opportunity to pilot Move to Regulate™ within one school, and one preschool setting, and have been blown away by the feedback received so far. We’re excited to continue developing the programme and to work with more schools, preschools and early years settings over the coming academic year

Teachers, SNAs, classroom assistants and early years practitioners…

What are the biggest regulation challenges you are currently seeing in your setting?

Another proud big Abil-OT moment 💙🥰

We know we’ve been super quiet on here recently, but it’s because we’ve been very busy behind the scenes with clinic work, school visits, preschool group visits & interventions, drafting reports, and developing new resources 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

This week we completed, printed, and posted out our new Abil-OT “Supporting Regulation Through Movement” programme for schools!!! 🎉🎉🎉

It has been a labour of love! And we’ve designed it to support schools with practical, realistic, regulation informed movement opportunities across the school day.

A lot of thought, clinical reasoning, rewriting, designing, printing, checking, and coffee went into this one.

Very proud of the team for getting it over the line 💙

If you are a teacher or a parent and you know of any schools, preschools, or educational settings who may benefit from this support around regulation, movement, sensory processing, or sensory motor groups, please feel free to share our page or get in touch 🌻

Sometimes school will say
“They are fine here.”

But at home you are seeing meltdowns, exhaustion, anxiety, refusal, or a child who is completely spent.

That disconnect can feel confusing and isolating.

A school visit allows us to see your child in their real learning environment. Not just how they present in clinic. Not just what is reported second hand. But what their day actually looks like.

We look at participation, regulation, transitions, motor demands, classroom setup and expectations. Then we give practical strategies that work in real classrooms. Nothing unrealistic. Nothing performative.

The goal is proper joined support.
So home and school are working together.
And you are not left trying to explain everything yourself.

If this sounds familiar, reach out for a quick chat. We can let you know honestly whether a school visit would help or if there is a better next step.

Lots of posts on this recently. What we see in clinic with our clients is that schools are increasingly supporting children with diverse sensory, regulation and participation needs but, staff are often expected to figure it out without specialist input.

We are now offering school consultation, classroom strategy support and regulation guidance through Abil-OT across schools in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

This can include classroom observation, practical strategies for staff, and support around participation, attention and everyday classroom functioning.

If your school would benefit from Occupational Therapy input, feel free to get in touch.

Supporting a nervous system rarely looks dramatic.Often it’s just steady, predictable, low-pressure moments like this. That’s not “doing nothing”.That’s regulation work.

If this sounds familiar, OT support can help make sense of what’s going on and reduce some of that daily stress.
