Sometimes the person we need to forgive most isn’t someone who hurt us recently.
Sometimes, it’s a parent.
Forgiveness can be complicated when the person who hurt you was also someone you loved, depended on, or looked up to.
But healing doesn’t require you to erase what happened, minimize your pain, or excuse their behavior.
It can simply mean choosing to stop letting the past have unlimited power over your present.
You can acknowledge what hurt you.
You can set boundaries.
You can grieve what you didn’t receive.
And, in your own time, you can choose to release what you no longer want to carry.
Forgiveness isn’t about saying they were right.
It’s about giving yourself permission to move forward. 🤍
