🌸FLOWER FEVER AT PENYLAN! 🌸

What better reason for a party than being crowned 1st Place in Hallmark in Bloom Wales! The beautiful sunshine joined us today as our award-winning garden became the perfect setting for our Flower Fever celebration. With live music from Craig, food & refreshments, flowers everywhere, dancing and so many genuine smiles of happiness, the garden was certainly the place to be! This win belongs to so many people. Our residents who have been involved throughout, our team, families, friends and everyone who has supported us and helped our garden flourish. Today was our chance to say a huge thank you and enjoy this achievement together.

Art Club Outdoors 🌿
Today’s Art Club took us outside, where the fresh air and beautiful surroundings created the perfect setting to relax and get creative. Residents settled in, indulging in their art, enjoying the peaceful atmosphere and watching their individual projects gradually come to life. A lovely afternoon surrounded by nature, with plenty of colour, creativity and fresh air. 🎨

🌟 Celebrating Our Moment Makers and the Difference They Make at Penylan 🌟

We are delighted to recognise Christine as one of our Moment Makers for her detailed and consistent documentation on Relish. As we continue introducing Relish across the home, Christine is setting a brilliant example of how residents’ engagement and wellbeing can be captured meaningfully. 👏

We are also celebrating Elizabeth for the fantastic support and commitment she has shown to the team, giving extra time when it was needed most and always being willing to support the team!

🌸1ST PLACE IN HALLMARK IN BLOOM WALES! 🏆

We are absolutely delighted and incredibly proud to share that Penylan House has won 1st place in Hallmark in Bloom Wales! And there’s more… we also received awards for Best Overall Garden, Most Joyful Moment and the Open Gate Award! 💚
This is our second year taking part, and what makes this achievement so special is that our garden truly reflects life at Penylan. When we welcomed the judges, they saw a space that is loved and used all year round, through every season.
It’s where we gather for activities, listen to music, exercise, garden, relax with a cup of tea, spend time with our dogs, welcome children and families, and simply enjoy being outdoors together. It’s not just a beautiful garden, it’s very much part of our home and our everyday life. 🌻

A huge thank you to our wonderful residents who have been involved in the planning since the beginning of the year, to our team who always get stuck in, and to our volunteers whose time and support make such a difference. We couldn’t be prouder of what we have achieved together. Three awards and 1st place in Wales… what a result for Penylan! 🏆🌸🌿

What a lovely afternoon we had yesterday enjoying another wonderful concert with the sweet voice of Star. Residents sang along to many familiar songs, got up to dance, and enjoyed spending time together listening to the music. Thank you, Star, for bringing such a lovely atmosphere to Penylan and for another fantastic afternoon of entertainment. 🎶

We enjoyed another productive day in the garden today. ☀️
This morning, one of our residents joined our new Head Chef, Emad, to harvest fresh beetroot, carrots, lettuce, baby tomatoes and chillies from the garden. The freshly picked produce was then taken to the kitchen, where Emad created a delicious dish for everyone to enjoy. In the afternoon, some residents headed outside for a game of bowls while music played in the background, creating a lovely atmosphere as everyone enjoyed the sunshine and cheered each other on.

This morning our residents enjoyed getting creative by making beautiful clay hanging ornaments. Everyone became immersed in the sensory experience, exploring the texture of the clay and using their imagination to create their own unique designs. It was lovely to see so much creativity and concentration throughout the session. The ornaments have turned out beautifully, and we can’t wait for the next step when we’ll be painting and decorating them. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the activity, and we’re looking forward to sharing the finished creations soon!

Today we made our way around the home with a few sweet treats, sharing smiles and taking a moment to catch up with our wonderful team.

Every morning, our Deputy Manager, Precious, greets us with the words, “Thank you for coming to work.” It’s something so simple, but it reminds us that feeling appreciated doesn’t always come from grand gestures. And if you’ve met Jelton, you’ll know his big smile says just as much! A happy team helps create a happy home, and we are grateful to work alongside such caring, dedicated people every day.

What a wonderful day celebrating our second annual Hallmark in Bloom! 🌸🌿

This year’s theme was Holidays, inspired by the memories that gardens can bring back. We welcomed our judges by proudly singing our own version of Summer Holiday, specially rewritten for Penylan and our beautiful garden.
Residents then guided the judges around the garden, sharing holiday memories from Italy, Spain, Greece, Portugal and the Welsh coast. They also shared why our garden means so much to them and how it has become a place to grow, relax, reminisce and spend time together. The celebrations continued with a holiday inspired menu chosen by our residents, including delicious homemade pizzas freshly prepared 🍕 A huge thank you to Mark & Louise for providing fantastic live music, keeping everyone singing, clapping and dancing throughout the afternoon.

This beautiful garden is the result of months of dedication from residents, relatives, volunteers and our amazing team. Every flower planted, every vegetable grown and every helping hand has made this garden the special place it is today. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who made today possible, especially our residents, relatives, volunteers, team members, kitchen team, Mark and Louise, and everyone who joined us to celebrate. Your support, enthusiasm and encouragement made the day truly special. We are so proud of what we have achieved together🌻

Harmony Brothers couldn’t have asked for a better stage than our beautiful garden. 🌺 Surrounded by colourful flowers, birdsong and the sound of music drifting through the garden, everyone enjoyed an afternoon of clapping, dancing and singing along to some favourite tunes. It was lovely to see so many people out in the fresh air, making the most of our blooming garden together.

A big thank you to Ian and Steve for another fantastic visit. We always look forward to seeing you at Penylan House! 💚
