The nights are drawing in, the leaves are falling in the cold winds and the Metal season of autumn can be felt all around us now 🍂
This seasonal transition from late summer to autumn, Earth element to Metal element, is often felt hardest by most. It is prime time for the common cold 🤧
Here are a few tips on how we can strengthen ourselves and keep resilient during this time (from a Chinese medicine perspective, of course ☯️):
☕️Switch your cold drinks to warmer drinks. Hot tea instead of iced tea, warm or room temperature water instead of cold water, and definitely no ice!
Our Spleen functions optimally when it's nice and warm. When we put coldness into our bodies, we have to work twice as hard to warm it all up
🍜That goes for food too. Now is the season for soups and stews, no longer salads and smoothies
🧥Get those outer layers on! Although autumn can be changeable, cold one minute warm the next, it's better to be warm and be able to take off a layer, than cold and unable to warm up
🧣If you're really not ready for a coat, wear a scarf at the very minimum. The neck is our most vulnerable area for pathogens to invade. Keep it wrapped up!
