Meet the hosts behind Talking it Through...

Jane Muston is iTT's Clinical Director, with over 30 years in mental health care and a hand in shaping national standards for therapy services. Outside of work, she's also got a soft spot for her alpacas.

Dr Alicia Stringfellow is a mental health nurse, academic and researcher with 30 years across the NHS, Cardiff University and international nursing leadership. Her interest in ADHD is exactly why episode one starts there.

Sometimes the biggest barrier to preventative healthcare isn't medicine. It's convenience.

A really interesting initiative from the NHS is showing what can happen when healthcare is taken closer to the patient.

Mobile cervical screening clinics have now screened more than 2,700 women, offering walk-in appointments in convenient community locations. On one day highlighted in the article, 18 women were screened, five had never previously attended cervical screening and eight were overdue.

It raises an important question for all of us working in healthcare:

How much more preventative care could we deliver if we made accessing it easier?

Work, childcare, travel, appointment availability and simply finding the time can all become reasons to put off something that we know is important.

At IGP, we strongly believe that healthcare should increasingly fit around people's lives — not the other way around.

Whether that's easier access to GP appointments, blood testing, health assessments, vaccinations or women's health services, reducing the barriers to accessing preventative healthcare can make a genuine difference.

Innovation in healthcare doesn't always have to mean new technology.

Sometimes, it can be as simple as making it easier for someone to turn up.
