Another fantastic event covered on Sunday by Knighton Division at the Llanfair Waterdine Classic Bike Show! 🏍️🚑

This brilliant community event, held in support of Blood Bikes Wales, was proudly covered by our newly qualified Event Responders - Charlotte, Daisy and Louisa. After months of hard work, training and dedication to achieve their qualifications, it was great to see them putting their skills into practice while supporting such a fantastic cause. 👏

Thankfully, there were no major incidents, meaning everyone could enjoy a fantastic day filled with amazing bikes, great company, glorious sunshine… and of course, a well earned ice cream… or two🍦☀️

Well done to everyone involved in making the event such a success!

A huge THANK YOU to The Barn for their incredibly generous donation of £1,000 to Knighton St John Division. 💚

The Barn does amazing work within our community by choosing a different local charity each month to support, and we are truly honoured to have been selected. Their commitment to giving back makes a real difference to so many local organisations.

This fantastic donation will help us continue providing emergency response and care within our community, ensuring we have the equipment, training and resources needed to respond when people need us most.

From everyone at Knighton St John, thank you to The Barn, its staff and customers for your kindness, generosity and continued support. Together, we’re making a real difference. 🚑💚

A huge congratulations to Charlotte, Daisy, Louisa and Meg from St John Ambulance – Knighton Division on successfully passing their Event Responder assessments! 👏🚑

After 12 months of dedication, continuous training, and unwavering commitment, they have all achieved their Event Responder role. This is no easy accomplishment – becoming an Event Responder requires a significant amount of hard work, perseverance, and countless hours of learning and practical experience.

Meg attended her very first event as an Event Responder last week at Dragon Ride, joining other members from St John Ambulance Cymru 👏

We are incredibly proud of everything they have achieved and look forward to seeing the valuable contribution they will continue to make in supporting their community at events.

Well done, Charlotte, Daisy, Louisa and Meg 💚

💚 Volunteers’ Week 2026 💚

As part of Volunteers’ Week, we’d like to say a huge thank you to all of our incredible volunteers at St John Ambulance Cymru - Knighton Division.

Your dedication, professionalism, and willingness to give your time to help others make a real difference in our communities every single day. Whether you’re supporting events, responding to 999 calls, providing first aid cover, training, fundraising, or working behind the scenes, your commitment is truly appreciated.

We’re also delighted to celebrate the success of four new Event Responders who have recently completed their training and assessments. The training is challenging and demands a high level of commitment, skill, and determination, making this achievement even more impressive. Congratulations to each of you on reaching this milestone!

As the saying goes:

“Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they just have the heart.” ❤️

That quote perfectly reflects the spirit of our team and the difference our volunteers make every day.

Thank you to every volunteer for everything you do. Your hard work, compassion, and teamwork are what make our organisation so special.

Happy Volunteers’ Week! 🎉🚑💚

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the sudden passing of Lynda Williams from Newtown Division, Powys.

Affectionately known as “Duckie” by those who knew her, Lynda dedicated over 66 years of service as a volunteer with St John Ambulance Cymru. The world is full of fabulous people but there was only one Duckie. It was guaranteed that if you were on duty with our Duckie you would go home with your sides aching and your cheeks aglow from laughing with our friend. It did not matter who you were - whether a new Badger, volunteer, Chief Executive or Prior - you would quickly be drawn to her beaming smile and her gift of the gab. Our friend had a remarkable ability to brighten any room. Her warmth, humour, and infectious laughter left a lasting impression on everyone she met, and she will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Deeply committed to supporting her local community, Duckie was a highly valued member of the team and continued actively volunteering right up until her passing, regularly attending events such as the various village shows, country and western events, the Royal Welsh Agricultural Show as well as contributing to St John activities both locally and across Wales. Her delight at attending the home Six Nation fixtures at the Principality Stadium was so clear for all to see and who could forget her era of being SJAC’s poster girl.

At this difficult time, our thoughts are with Lynda’s family and friends and we extend our heartfelt condolences to everyone affected by Duckie's sad passing.
