Just because a parent won’t let you kiss their baby doesn’t mean they don’t love you. It doesn’t mean they think you’re disgusting. It doesn’t mean they don’t want their baby to have a relationship with you.

It means they are doing exactly what they should. Protecting their baby’s health over protecting your feelings.

So just wash your hands, have a cuddle, tell mum she looks fantastic, and don’t get offended. 💚

I started First Aid Cymru after an emergency at home with my baby daughter, and without a franchise backing me or any starting funds it hasn’t been easy... but for just over a year I’ve been providing first aid training to schools 🏫 , businesses 🏢 and parents 👶🏻 across South Wales, and I couldn’t have imagined what this ‘little business’ would become.

Being both a Registered Nurse & a qualified teacher is a bit unique, but apparently I’ve found my niche!

2 more little lives saved by their parents 💚 ‘s little Tilly choking on mucus, and a sweet boy who choked on a rogue piece of foil (how do they ALWAYS find the things they shouldn’t have? It’s like they have radars!). 👶🏻
THIS is why every stress, every late night, every moment that I’m drowning in admin, is worth it. I’ve lost count now of the number of lives saved from these parent courses, but every single message will mean more to me than you know.

I set up and the parent branch after my own daughter choked and I saved her life in our hallway, and as awful and terrifying as that moment was? Look what it created. 🥹

Today is my birthday, and what a great gift from you all of another fully booked course 💚 I naively thought that our next Cardiff Bay course wouldn’t get booked up due to the Easter holidays…but oh did you prove me wrong! That will be another 12 parents, grandparents & parents-to-be trained in life-saving skills, ready to help their child if they ever need it. Well done everyone for taking that step! 👏

People are noticeably more uncomfortable training on a female manikin, and it’s because we’re not used to seeing them. We’re not used to hearing these things being talked about so freely.

From now on, if you train with , you will be trained on both male and female manikins. You’ll be fully prepared to save a life, no matter who they are.
