Watch out I might rob your mirror or hide your socks !!

I have had the most amazing day supporting my clients today.

I have been shouted at for stealing a mirror and hiding socks.

I have been shown how to make spaghetti bolonays and called a very good girl.

I have completed the crossword with our own little spin on it.

I have become a researcher.

Above all I have made my clients laugh and they all felt useful in some way or another.

This is exactly why I love my job.

What is the best bits of caring for you and why?

Just because a person is living with dementia doesn't mean they can be dismissed. They still know what they want in the moment

When things go petong and there just isn't enough time to fix it.

Im sorry guys that thing that I promised was going live tomorrow there has been a snaffoo and I havent been able to get it done in time sooo im just pushing it back another week or so just to smooth of the rough edges and give you the best experiance possible.

I promise it will be worth the wait and it will be sooo much fun.

Keep your eye out as I might drop some hints as to what it is.

Feel free to guess.

Does your house feel like an obstacle course to your loved one?

Are they constantly hesitating or saying there are things like holes steps or ramps in the house.

This is completely normal it is not because they are being awkward or trying to avoid certain things.

It is actually because as dementia progresses people's spacial awareness changes dramatically.

What is a small slope say into the shower could look huge and frightening to a person living with dementia.

Black rugs often look like holes in the floor. Distance can also often be misjudged.

What can we as carers do to help?

Reassurance is so important. Pick up any dark colour rugs if its causing a problem and also if there is a little slope into the shower that might look like everest to a person living with dementia gently talk them through it let them know you are there to help and support them and reassure them that they are safe.

Does your house become an obstacle cause for your loved one living with dementia? What tips can you pop hear for others
