💗💙CHILDREN’S FLU VACCINATIONS💙💗

Is your child aged 2 or 3 years old, and born between 01.09.2022 and 31.08.2024? 👶🏼🩷

If so, they are eligible for a free NHS flu vaccination this year. The children’s flu vaccine helps protect your child from flu and can reduce the risk of serious complications and hospitalisation.

📞 There’s no need to wait for an invitation – please contact the surgery on 01228 524477 to arrange an appointment for your child.

💉 Most children will receive the vaccine as a quick and simple nasal spray.

We have lots of appointments available, which can be booked by ringing us or using the link in your invitation text. 💙

Today we said a very sad goodbye to Mike, our Information Analyst and Digital Support Officer, who is leaving EMG after almost 10 years with us. ❤️

Since joining us back in 2017 as our Data Manager, Mike has become an absolutely invaluable part of the EMG family. He has been a brilliant colleague, a great friend and someone who has always been there for so many of us, and always has the answer to any issue.

We’re incredibly proud of Mike as he takes on his new role as Practice Manager at Wigton Group Medical Practice. We know he’ll be absolutely fantastic and they are extremely lucky to have him!

Mike, you’ll be massively missed throughout the whole team. Thank you for almost 10 years of hard work, laughs, friendship and snacks. ❤️

📅 Access to appointments

Patient feedback:

“Even if a doctor says you need another appointment you can wait for two weeks or more.”

Our response:
We understand how frustrating it can be to be told that you need a further appointment and then have to wait for one.

Our appointment capacity is finite. We have a set number of appointments available each day and need to balance routine appointments alongside urgent and same-day clinical needs, as well as appointments with our nurses and wider practice team.

We know that this can sometimes mean patients have to wait longer than they would like, particularly when they have been advised by a clinician to arrange follow-up.

We continually review how we use the appointments available to us and how we can improve access, while ensuring that patients with urgent clinical needs are appropriately prioritised.

We appreciate your patience and understand that waiting for care can be difficult.

💬 Patient Feedback – We’re Listening

We regularly share the positive feedback we receive from our patients, and we are very grateful for the kind words and recognition given to our teams.

However, we also receive feedback about things that have not gone as well. We believe it is just as important to acknowledge this feedback, explain some of the challenges we face as a practice, and share what we are doing to improve.

💻 Our new online system

“Eden Medical Group are working within a system which seems to assume that everyone is happy or able to use modern technology. This definitely NOT the case and puts patients such as myself at a real disadvantage.”

We recognise that not everyone is able or comfortable using online services.

Our digital systems have been introduced to help us manage the very high volume of requests we receive and, where possible, make it easier for patients to access services. However, we recognise that digital access is not suitable for everyone.

We are sorry if the new system has made it more difficult for you to access care. We can support patients who are unable to use online services by ringing the practice or attending the surgery. A member of the team will be more than happy to help you.
