Word of the Week.. Achievement. πŸ™‚πŸ’–

13/08/2026

On A level results day, I would like to re share this video about achievement and results back in 2023.

Congratulations to everyone on all your achievements past, present, and those yet to come. πŸ™‚

Achievement comes in many different forms. I never did A Levels, and missed a lot of my Secondary School education due to illness. However, when I was 39 I graduated from uni with a 2.1 BA Hons degree. πŸ™‚ The journey to achievement can take many different routes. Today I invite you to celebrate your achievements whatever they are. πŸ™‚

A glass of water. πŸ™‚ How many of you have had one of these today?

I often talk about nurturing ourselves and self care. Having a glass of water is one way of doing this. Ensuring our basic health and wellbeing needs are met is an important part of maintaining and caring for our mental health. Just as plants need water to grow and blossom so do we. πŸ™‚

LET'S TALK!! SAFE PLACES AND SPACES.

Having a safe space is important. It can enable us to feel secure and protected. Sometimes it's not always about a place or location. Sometimes it's about a feeling and something we can create within ourselves.

Our own experiences of feeling safe can be dependent on our childhood, life experiences, relationships, and our environment.

As someone who grew up in a domestic abuse environment I understand only to well the importance of having a safe and secure space just to be.

Throughout my years experience as a counsellor I have worked from many different rooms and locations. What I have come to realise is that it doesn't matter about what type of location or room it is. The safe space comes from something I create to offer my clients the safety and security they need.

As a child growing up my bedroom became my safe space. As an adult I have different places I regard as a safe space. It can be my home but it is sometimes walking along the beach, or out in the country. Particularly since moving to Cumbria I feel part safe, secure, and free out walking in the Eden Valley because it is far away from past experiences that left me feeling unsafe.

Today I invite you to consider your safe space or place. What do you need to feel safe and secure?
