💙 Swallowing difficulties matter 💙

Dysphagia means having problems swallowing. It can happen to anyone. It can be linked to Parkinson’s disease, learning disabilities, and head or neck cancers.

⚠️ Signs to look out for:

🔹 coughing or choking when eating or drinking
🔹 a wet or gurgly voice after swallowing
🔹 food staying in the mouth or throat
🔹 getting chest infections again and again
🔹 losing weight or not drinking enough without a clear reason

✅ Why it is important Spotting swallowing problems early can help keep people safer. It can lower the risk of choking, not eating or drinking enough, and chest infections caused by food or drink going the wrong way.

All our carers attend an all day mandatory training session, led by Gerald (RG Reed Training). The mandatory training consolidates the Care Certificate which all carers complete.

The 2026 Care Worker Wellbeing Survey is now open, and we want to hear from people working across the sector. Whether you are a care worker, support worker, personal assistant, senior carer or manager, your day-to-day experience matters.

By sharing what work is really like for you, you can help us understand the pressures facing the care workforce, celebrate what is working well and identify where change is most needed.

The findings will help strengthen the evidence used to campaign for meaningful improvements for care workers, ensuring the voices of those delivering vital care and support are heard by employers, policymakers and the wider sector.

⏱️ The survey takes around 15 to 20 minutes to complete.
