Before we regulate the nervous system… perhaps we should actually feed it 😂🌿🥚
After a busy weekend of loading, unloading, exhibiting, promoting and talking until I’m fairly sure I’d used up my entire social battery 😅… yesterday was all about catching up with jobs between the rain, back to milking, sorting the leftover stock and squeezing in a little behind-the-scenes somatic work — because yes, despite what social media suggests i dont actually post everything 🌱
Supporting the nervous system doesn't always require over complicated routines.
Sometimes it really starts with the basics:
And whats more basic than the humble egg
Eggs are one of our richest everyday sources of choline, a nutrient the brain and nervous system use to make acetylcholine — a neurotransmitter involved in memory, mood and muscle control. One large egg provides around 147mg of choline.
Then there’s the female nervous system itself.
For many years, women were underrepresented in health research, so our understanding of how female biology responds to stress, hormones and different life stages has continued to evolve.
And perhaps one of the most useful reminders is that regulation isn't simply about chasing dopamine and pushing harder.
Dopamine is essential — we need it for motivation, reward, learning and movement.
But connection, affection, laughter, nurturing, creating, slowing down and simply feeling supported matter too, with hormones and neurotransmitters including oxytocin and serotonin forming part of that much bigger picture ✨️
It doesn't have to be that complicated.
Sometimes wellbeing really does begin with coming back to the basics
Supporting your nervous system doesn’t have to become another job on the list.
Breathe deeply. Nourish properly. Move freely. Get outside. Connect. And rest when your body asks 🫶
Sometimes the simplest things really are the foundations.
And yes… apparently the humble egg deserves its place in the nervous-system toolkit too. 🥚😂🐔
