Charmaine Barnes, BSc. Pod. Med., M. Ch. S., S. R. Ch, is an HPC Registered Podiatrist/Chiropodist with over 30 years experience.

To prevent cross-infection and safe transportation between locations, all instruments are individually packed and sterilised in separate, single-use bags so that only sterilised instruments are used for each client. About Feet treats a range of foot and lower limb conditions, with their priority being to change the way people think about their feet. They aim to minimise ongoing problems and provide customers with optimal foot health, which they believe leads to improved overall health and well-being. About Feet also offers nail surgery; nail reconstruction; biomechanical assessment; orthoses; and podiatric acupuncture in addition to standard routine foot care. The clinic is located on the ground floor, with off-street parking being available. It is beside Carrickfergus train and bus station and is a short walk from the centre of Carrickfergus and its associated amenities.

👣 From painful corns to more comfortable feet

This client came in recently needing treatment for painful corns, but their appointment was also an opportunity to give their feet some much-needed routine care.

The treatment included:

☀️ While Charmaine is putting her feet up, here's your reminder to check yours! 👣

Summer can be tough on our feet.

Sandals, longer walks, warmer weather and holidays can all mean more rubbing, pressure and exposed skin.

Tonight, take just 60 seconds to check:

👣 Any new blisters or rubbing?
👣 Heels becoming dry or cracked?
👣 Redness around your toenails?
👣 Hard skin becoming uncomfortable?
👣 Any changes to the colour or appearance of a nail?

Most of the time there's nothing to worry about, but noticing changes early means you can deal with them before they start interfering with everyday life.

And if you spot something you're unsure about, make a note of it and let us take a look when we're back.

🚶 Please don't wait until it becomes unbearable.

You don't have to be in severe pain before it's worth seeing a podiatrist.

In fact, many foot problems are much easier to manage when they're treated early.

Whether it's:

• a nail that's started to change
• a sore heel

After another busy few months looking after feet across Carrickfergus and beyond, Charmaine will be taking a well-deserved summer holiday from Friday 31st July until Monday 24th August.

During this time, the clinic will be closed for appointments.
