Most insect bites and stings get better within a few days. But sometimes they can become infected.
Watch for changes such as increasing redness or swelling, skin that feels hot or painful, or pus around the bite.
Through NHS Pharmacy First, eligible patients with an infected insect bite can be assessed by a pharmacist and, where clinically appropriate, treatment can be provided without needing a GP appointment.
If an insect bite isn’t getting better, don’t just keep waiting for it to settle.
