Today is World Su***de Prevention Day. The theme is Changing the Narrative on Su***de, and the call to action is simply: start the conversation.

πŸ•―οΈ One belief keeps people silent more than any other β€” that asking someone directly might put the thought in their head. It does not. Being asked plainly, by someone willing to hear the answer, is often the first relief a person has felt in a long time.

❓ If you are worried about someone: ask plainly. Not "you are not thinking of doing anything silly, are you?" β€” that question asks for a no. Ask directly, and leave room for the answer.

πŸ‘‚ Listen without rushing to fix. The instinct to solve is a loving one, but it can end a conversation early. Staying with what has been said is the more useful thing.

🀝 Stay in contact afterwards. One conversation is not the point. Following up next week is.

❀️ You do not need to be a professional to do any of this. You need to be willing to stay.

πŸ“ž If you or someone you know needs support now: Samaritans, 116 123, free and available 24 hours a day. Shout, text SHOUT to 85258. NHS 111, option 2, or 999 in an emergency.

🌿 London Trusted Therapy provides ongoing therapeutic support. We are not a crisis service β€” please use the numbers above if you need help today.

🏫 Every September we hear the same sentence from parents: they were absolutely fine, and then they were not.

⚑ There is a reason for the delay. The first week of term runs on novelty and adrenaline β€” new shoes, new classroom, the momentum of starting. The second week is when the real shape of the year becomes clear, and that is when the difficulty tends to surface.

πŸ’¬ It rarely surfaces as an explanation. Younger children in particular do not say "I am anxious about the corridor between lessons." They say their tummy hurts. They cry on Sunday evening. They are fine on Tuesday and immovable on Wednesday.

🌿 Three things that help. Take the physical symptoms seriously β€” they are real, even when nothing is medically wrong. Keep mornings predictable and low-negotiation. And ask about a specific moment rather than the whole day: "How was lunchtime?" gets further than "How was school?"

πŸ”Ž If avoidance is building week on week, it is worth looking properly. Sometimes what presents as anxiety has a language or processing difficulty underneath it β€” which is why our psychotherapists, psychologists and speech and language therapists assess together rather than in sequence.

πŸ’Ύ Save this and check back in a fortnight.

🌍 Today is World Sexual Health Day. This year the theme is Every Body.

🩺 When people picture s*xual health, they picture a clinic β€” tests, contraception, physical screening. All necessary. But it leaves out most of what actually brings people to our door.

πŸ’¬ Psychos*xual therapy addresses things like: differences in desire between partners; pain during s*x; performance anxiety and loss of confidence; intimacy after childbirth, illness, surgery or menopause; and s*x that has quietly stopped, along with the conversation that stopped with it.

🀍 None of these is unusual. All of them are treatable. And none of them means a relationship is failing β€” more often it means something needs saying that has not yet found words.

🌿 Our psychos*xual work is COSRT-accredited and available individually or as a couple, at Harley Street and Chancery Lane.

πŸ—£οΈ If you have been putting off the conversation, today is as good a day as any.

πŸ”₯ We talk about burnout like it's a work thing, or an adult thing. It isn't. It shows up in schools just as often β€” it just looks different there.

😢 Not caring about things you used to care about. Dreading what you once enjoyed. Waking up tired despite a full night's sleep, because the sleep itself wasn't restorative.

⚠️ It's easy to assume you just need to push through, especially when everyone around you seems to be coping fine. Burnout isn't a lack of effort β€” it's a sign you've been running on empty for longer than you realised.

πŸ’¬ If this sounds familiar, it's worth pausing on properly, not pushing past.

Does any of this sound like you? Tell us in the comments.

There is no official reason September should feel like a fresh start. More than half the calendar year has gone. And yet.

For most of us the rhythm of the academic year never really left. Term begins, diaries fill, mornings darken, and a summer that ran loose is suddenly tightly scheduled again β€” often inside a single week.

That is a great deal of change to absorb at once, and the body tends to register it before the mind catches up. Broken sleep. A shorter fuse. Tiredness that a good night does not touch. Most people move through it in a fortnight.

Sometimes it does not lift. If Sunday-evening dread is still there by Monday lunchtime, if small decisions feel disproportionately heavy, or if you are quietly withdrawing from the people who usually steady you, that is worth paying attention to rather than pushing through.

Our autumn diary is now open. Save this for the week it starts to bite.

As the Summer Bank Holiday weekend begins, a small reminder from all of us at London Trusted Therapy: rest doesn't need to be earned, and a day with nothing planned isn't a day wasted.

However you spend the long weekend, we hope it gives you a genuine pause before September begins.

πŸ“š There's so much pressure to have it all figured out β€” course, uni, the five-year plan. And most people don't. Not fully, not really.

🎯 Here's what actually helps: stop trying to plan the whole path, and focus on the next actual step in front of you. What do you need to decide this week β€” not this decade?

πŸ—£οΈ Saying it out loud helps too. Carrying "I don't know yet" silently makes it heavier than it needs to be. Saying it to someone else, out loud, often makes it feel far more manageable.

🀍 Not having it figured out doesn't mean you're behind. Most people haven't either β€” they're just not posting about it.

πŸ’¬ Anyone else still figuring it out? You're not alone.

You don't have to be going back to school to feel the shift that starts around now. New term, new year, new routine β€” even adults who left school decades ago often notice a low hum of anticipatory anxiety as August turns to September.

Swipe through for why this happens, and how to tell ordinary anticipation apart from anxiety that needs support β€” for you or for a child in your life.

If September feels heavier than it should, our team works with both children and adults navigating this transition. Reach out.

πŸ—£οΈ For some of the young people and adults we see, communication doesn't happen primarily through speech β€” and that's where our Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) service comes in.

πŸ”Ž Led by our specialist speech and language therapist, the service looks at how someone communicates now, what's getting in the way, and what tools β€” from picture systems to speech-generating devices β€” might open things up, alongside ongoing support to help those tools become part of everyday life.

πŸ’¬ Wondering whether our AAC service could help your child or client? Send us a message β€” we're happy to explain how it works.

😰 Results day is coming up, and if the "what if it doesn't go to plan" thought has crossed your mind more than once β€” you're not the only one.

🧠 Here's what actually helps: think through both outcomes in advance, not in a doom-spiral way, just enough that neither one completely blindsides you. What happens if it goes to plan? What happens if it doesn't? Having a rough idea either way takes some of the panic out of it.

🀝 Don't go alone. Make sure you're with people you trust on the day.

πŸ“… However it goes, it's just one day. It doesn't define everything that comes after it β€” even though right now, it can genuinely feel that way.

πŸ’¬ How are you feeling about results day? Let us know below.
