Highfield House Residential Care Home provides a Professional Responsive Care Service There is a daily variety of activities, and outings, to enjoy.

This Grade 2 listed fine country town House, with tranquil gardens, is situated in the centre of Castle Cary, an unspoilt Somerset town, offering a wide range of amenities within walking distance. These include the Post Office, Library, Public Houses, Banks and a variety of shops and cafes. Castle Cary is on the mainline rail link between Paddington and Penzance and the station is within walking d

istance of the house. Our 22 Residents are encouraged and assisted to remain as active and as independent as possible. We provide an excellent standard of holistic care which supports individuals’ choices in a variety of ways depending on their health and general well-being. Our aim is for Residents to feel ‘at home’ and in control of their own lives. This is achieved by ensuring that residents are genuinely involved in their person-centred care plan which is on-going. Our staff will strive to preserve and maintain the dignity, individuality and privacy of all residents within a warm and caring atmosphere and in doing so will be sensitive to the persons ever changing needs.

Experienced Handy Person Wanted 🏡

We’re looking for a reliable, experienced Handy Person to join our friendly team at our wonderful residential care home, supporting 22 elderly residents.

Hours: 15 hours per week
Preferred: Spread over 3 days (although we’re happy to be flexible for the right person).

The role includes:

* General maintenance and repairs
* Basic decorating and painting
* Health & safety checks
* Helping to ensure our home remains safe, comfortable, and welcoming for our residents

We’re looking for someone who:

* Has previous maintenance/handyperson experience
* Is practical, organised, and able to work independently
* Is friendly, trustworthy, and enjoys working in a caring environment
* Takes pride in keeping a home looking its best

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of our residents by helping to maintain a safe and homely environment.

Our residents had a wonderful outing to Mattia American Diner, where they enjoyed delicious sundaes and refreshing drinks! 🍨🥤

There were lots of smiles, laughter, and great memories made together. A big thank you to Mandy and Amanda for taking our residents out and making the trip so enjoyable. Your kindness and support are truly appreciated! 💙

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us at the Highfield House Wimbledon Theme Garden Party! 🎾🌸

We were so lucky with the perfect weather, which made for a wonderful afternoon. It was a relaxed and fun event, filled with laughter, great company, and plenty of Wimbledon spirit.

A special thank you to our entertainer, Justin Diash, who was as brilliant as ever and kept everyone thoroughly entertained! 🎶👏

A heartfelt thank you also goes to all our amazing, dedicated staff members who worked so hard and helped make the afternoon run so smoothly. Your kindness, enthusiasm, and commitment are truly appreciated. 💚

A special thank you to our wonderful cook for creating a beautiful Wimbledon-themed cake, which looked amazing and was enjoyed by everyone. 🎂🍓

Our first CQC inspection since 2019 and we are thrilled to have again been rated as GOOD overall. But we are especially proud to have been rated OUTSTANDING in are area of CARING. Well done to a fantastic team of wonderful people who give their utmost to ensure the lives of our residents are healthy, fulfilled and happy 🤩

We had a very special visitor this week, Hank the puppy 🐾💙
Safe to say he completely stole the show (and a few hearts).
I’m sure he is going to become a regular visitor 🐶

Residents enjoyed a lovely lunch at Whitstones Fish & Chip Restaurant, followed by a scenic drive around Cheddar with a stop of at the Ice Cream Parlour🌿🚗

A big thank you to the wonderful staff for all their help in making the day so enjoyable — it was truly appreciated by everyone 💙❤️
