If I see this statement one more time 🙄

There’s so much to talk about but childbirth is not the equivalent of breaking 20 bones.

I get that this might be here to show what absolute warriors we are when giving birth and I completely agree that anyone that give birth should be so proud of what they have done.

But, narratives like this just fuel expectant parents worries that they can’t do it.

If I read this when pregnant, I would question whether I could do it too but here to tell you that it’s wildly inaccurate.

I am not dismissing that some people will agree with the statement if they did have a particularly traumatic birth but we need to understand that there’s lots going on during labour to help you with the pain and plenty that you can do yourself too.

Let me know your thoughts in the comments.

I feel like we are lacking a bit of community for those that are pregnant in Yorkshire.

I remember being pregnant myself back in 2018, a first time Mum and turning to Google for all of my questions but really what I wanted was a real human (stranger or not) to share their experience with me.

So, I’ve set up a private Facebook group for anyone that is expecting a baby in Yorkshire, for you to connect, chat, ask questions and share your thoughts.

I’m a local antenatal and hypnobirthing teacher based in Castleford, I used to have a group similar to this in 2020 and it was such a lovely group, I thought I would bring it back.

Whilst this will be a group for you all to connect, I am more than happy to pop into the group and share some birth tips and I was also thinking of running a few online pregnancy relaxation sessions too (all free) to help you unwind and de stress.

You don’t have to be from Yorkshire to join the pregnancy relaxation sessions, come and join the group and benefit from some zen regardless of where you live.

Head to the link in my bio to join the group.

Feel free to share with anyone who might be interested.

Pregnant in Wakefield?

Not my usual post but one that I wanted to comment on.

There’s so much more to say, more than can fit in a social media post but I urge you to do your research.

As always my DM’s are open

Staying hydrated is key đź’§

Did you know that one of the biggest causes of stalled labour is dehydration?

The muscles of the uterus need to stay hydrated in order to work. A bit like when you go to the gym, you would always take a drink with you, same with labour.

Coconut water constrains several important electrolytes including magnesium, potassium, calcium and sodium.

You can also think about drinking plain water or Lucozade sport is a good option too.

Follow me for more Hypnobirthing tips that you can use during labour.

I know it sounds over dramatic but have you ever panicked that much that you can’t breathe?

That’s what I was worried about, that I’d get myself into such a state, wanting to stop but not being able to stop giving birth and then just going into a complete meltdown.

I knew I had to do something or else I would end up in such a state and I’m so thankful that I found Hypnobirthing and ignored my friends and family that said it was a waste of time and money.

Head over to my website where I share both of my children’s birth stories.

If you want to find out more about my courses, feel free to send me a message and we can have a chat.

I only wish I had found Hypnobirthing sooner during my first pregnancy.

Thankfully, I had it during my second and I handled the high risk label so much better.

This isn’t to scare you but to tell you to prepare in advance. Doing a Hypnobirthing course sooner rather than later is always beneficial.

🚗 I’ve done the car journey to hospital in labour twice (during 1 pregnancy) and here’s the things that made it a little more comfortable and a little less stressful.

1/ close your eyes and get an eye mask, seeing the red light or the traffic isn’t going to make you get there any quicker but it might stress you out.

2/ Pop in some headphones and put your Hypnobirthing tracks on, they will come into their element at this point, helping you to zone out and not hear any external noises

3/ Pop the air con on, unless you are already feeling cold. The cold air can be a great distraction and will help you to cool down

4/ Plan the journey beforehand, the last thing you want is a stressful journey because you don’t know alternative routes or where to park

Head to my blog for plenty more birth tips on how to head into labour feeling confident rather than stressed.

If pregnancy isn’t what you imagined it to be.

If you are smiling but deep down being crushed with pregnancy anxiety for whatever reason that might be.

If you’ve been given a high risk label and it’s all you can think about.

I want you to know that I see you and I understand because I went through the same thing 8 years ago when I was pregnant with my daughter.

Just a little reminder that I’ve spoken about my experience over on my blog and how I managed those feelings and overcame them to go and on have an incredible birth against all the odds.

My DM’s are always open because I know that even when it feels like everyone else is loving being pregnant (which I absolutely love to see) that it’s okay if you’re not feeling that way.

Sending anyone that needs it some love.

If you use the breaks to feel scared about the next contraction the your energy levels will fade quickly.

Using the breaks in between contractions to have a drink, a rest, something to eat or go to the toilet is a wise idea.

Comment “contraction” and I’ll send my short introduction to hypnobirthing for you to watch or listen to.
