This is a question I often get asked in clinic, the musculoskeletal system consists of many layers of tissue so that our bodies can perform the complex tasks that they do on a daily basis. All muscles have a start point (an origin) and an end point (an insertion), however many share these very same attachment points and the muscle belly (the nice soft squidgy bit) may cross the same pathway as other muscles in that area. This is why as therapists we often work other parts of your body that you may not realise have a direct correlation to the problem that you came to see us with.
